Well when I picked up my battery today the guy said after you add the acid to the battery it is all set and you do not need to charge it??? Well I thought you also charged it??? Can someone tell me the right steps for setting up a brand new dry unseald battery??

He also acted like there was really no need to put it on a tender...?

Re: Adding Acid (DucatiR)

There's no reason you can't use a new battery right after you've filled it with electrolyte and sealed it. It will have enough juice to start the bike, and the charging system will finish it off as you ride.

However, it's better for the long term life of the battery if you trickle charge it until fully charged before you use it.

But if you don't have time, or don't have a charger handy, don't sweat it...

According to articles I've read,MCM?, if you just throw the battery in to charge it , it will never attain more than 80% of it's rated power. It must be charged fully at the correct rate. It'll work, but you're just wasting money.

Re: (Tornado-rider)

Always fully charge new shit.
Always apply positive whatever first and remove it last.
Never add acid to a allready charged battery....it goes pop.
Use a good trickle charger with a float when it gets to optimum charge.
and for farts sake if you have a 999 anything make sure your cell is 100%.
