But what good is it if it's branded with a SALVAGE title, (it will follow it for the rest of its life).

that guy beat me out of low mileage wrecks...mine had 158 but not half as much damage as that bike and it was in the grass/sand

To me that's no BFD.

Everyone should get use to seeing more and more of those. Now days.... if your bike falls over in the garage the insurance folks can total it.

are you sure it's a true "r" model? unless ducati changed the way it labels vin #'s on the new bikes, all "r" bikes start with "zdm3" NOT "zdm1".

someone could be in for a grave disappointment by assuming.

Re: (chiromikey)

Its got all of the trick ohlins and cf bits to be an R ...

take a look at the magnesium valve covers on the motor Its a "R"

i saw that and i too would assume it is an "r" model but without knowing for sure that ducati changed the way they now label vin #'s i would still be assuming.

Re: (chiromikey)

My R's VIN starts with ZDM1

Looks like an R, but one can never be too careful these days.

good to know diablito...i knew you'd prove youreself worthy of being on both boards!

Re: (diablito)

It's got the magnesium headlight bracket and valve covers...

Really can't see if it has the two-piece bolt together frame or the one-piece welded together frame of the standard models just underneath the fuel tank.

Re: (Ubermoto)

Obviously, the last six digits of the VIN are not correct : ZDM1UB5W75B(123456)

But, the first eleven do match 2005 999R VIN #s.

Looks like the frame is bent at the neck, so it earned it's salvage cert.
