I tried to do a search and nothing really came back, I am new to the Ducati scene and was wondering what the difference is between the "S" model and the standard 996??? I am going to race my 99 996 Is there any differences in the motor???

Did the 2001 996S have a 998 engine?

No, just a regular 996 motor.

Re: 996 vs 996S ??? (Totto)

US model of 996S has same engine as 996Bip... rest of the world 996S has SPS cams and lighter engine internals, very close to the SPS. 996R has 996cc but it's the testastretta engine. 998 is all 998cc expt 998R that is 999cc.
