Hey guys,

On my 748s I currently have the Ferracci carbon cans. I am interested in having Strati remove the two baffles in the stock mid pipe and replace them with straight pipes. Does anyone have info on the purpose of the mid pipe baffles? Will I gain any sound or throttle response? I'm also running the Ferracci chip. Will it need any tuning due to the change in the exhaust? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks!

Cheers,
Brian

Re: 748 exhaust mod... (RI Ducati 748)

Essentially, you would be going to a 1/2 system, without going up in pipe diameter as is usually associated with the purchase of a 1/2 system. I went from cored pipes (also from strati) and the stock chip, to a 1/2 system by Sil-Motor. The 1/2 system goes from 45-54 millimeters where the premufflers used to be, plus had a UM211(?) chip with them. The improvement was outstanding.

However, since you already have a 'slip on' system, just removing those pre-mufflers is not going to net you as much in my opinion.

Try going to a slightly richer chip...that is if it isn't running to rich right now?

Better yet, maybe a power commander??

Re: 748 exhaust mod... (Saginaw748)

your ferracci chip will be fine as they run very rich for slip ons and will work well for your application
