I threw a leg over a motorcycle again. Had a doctors visit this morning, all look well with my hand, foot has felt good for about a week now. I had surgery last monday (10 days ago) to have the pins removed from my right hand. Doc said I was cleared to go back to work monday the 24th, so I said what about riding? He smiled and said I'll let you do it but be careful, no lifting the thing, no fighting anyone and just remember your hand was broken only 5 weeks back. So I came home easily got the 750 off the stands and away from the wall. My hand does not feel 100% on the grip, fat feeling but not alot of pain unless I over do it with gripping. I can work the brake real good with my two fingers close to thumb. I had the 5th metacarpal bone broke from the knucle back about 3/8". Honestly it felt pretty good once I fired it up. Pulled away and headed out around the neighborhood. Man it felt good to be back riding even if it was just around the block. Right hand turns are a bit more wierd but I managed. I don't go back to the doctor for a month and that should be it. Still have a limp with my foot but time will heal it up 100% I'm sure. I still have the two outter fingers taped together and he told me to tape my glove two fingers together just as a precaution. So I guess I'll be packing some tape for when the glove comes off. The last thing he said I needed right now was for my pinky finger to get hung on something and pulled away from my hand.

I am just so excited to have come this far in this length of time.

Will FEMA buy you a new bike?
nope I doubt it, but her insurance had better. That part of recovery is still on the negotiating table. At this time I am not sure what a V-Strom replacement will be or if I will even replace it with anything. I am quite happy with the 750.

not sure about that but I did have trouble having the MRI done on my back, strong magnetic fields do weird things to metal in your body. I did get very warm in those areas during the 15 minutes I was in the tube.

Thanks for all the encouragement guys! It has been a long and trying time for me through all this.

I don't plan on doing a 200 miler on the 750 before monday:( I have no immediate urge to go play in the real traffic with the cage morons anytime soon. Neighborhood stroll was a nice pick me up, part of the healing process.:)

Thanks for the update.
Sounds like things are progressing nicely.

It has been almost 15 years since my accident and I still get a strange
feeling when approaching an intersection !

Be careful out there.:rockon
