Does this stuff go bad? It's been sealed in a can so I figure it's ok to throw in my pre-mix and feed it to the TZ. Any thoughts?

I would use it.
If it is in a new can, then it can’t evaporate – and I don’t think that that stuff settles.
If you are still worried, just mix it 50/50 with some fresh stuff and do a plug chop.

If it has been in the heat, you might as well use Super Unleaded... but like you said... if it has been sealed in a steel can and kept out of the sunlight, then go for it.

Mashuri- what type of VP are we talking about? I have an online aquaintance who is a VP rep. She says some types would be OK, but some... not so OK.

It it's U4 or C12, it should be fine... at least from my previous experience... but yeah, if you've got a contact...

Stable U4 should look like Aqua Velva... clear with a light blue-ish tint.

C12 should be green. Not clear like U4, but not DARK green either. Take that for what it's worth.

Did you find out which fuel it is? Here is what she replied...
I had asked her about both C12 and U4. I could get her phone number for you...

The U4 I would be little concerned about - the C12 should be fine. Your friend is obviously blending the C12 with pump gas- right? The octane range between the two fuels is substantial.

It's C12 and most of it is not mixed with anything. There is some in a plastic gas can premixed with Motul synthetic. This is what I use in my TZ but I think I might toss the pre-mix and keep the unopened stuff. Sound like a good plan?

Interesting reply. Could you ask her why she's suggesting blending C12 with pump gas?

My guess is that the C12 has such a high octane rating that it's great to cut with 87 pump. C12 burns very clean, but when run straight never feels as though it has as much "umph" as VP110 or VP100.

It would be great to know what VP suggests doing with C12 in a stock Kawasaki motor, 13.5 comp ratio.

That is interesting. I imagine that whole pump gas thing wouldn't fly too well with a racing 2-stroke motor...

I think she said that because I told her that I thought Mashuri had both C12 and U4. I think she was concerned about the difference in octane for tuning purposes, with a TZ.

C12 is motor octane 108, and U4 is motor octane 92 - which probably works out to 112 and 96 (R+M)/2. Running C12 in a stock motor would probably waste horsepower.

Ok, that makes sense. Not a drop of U4 has ever touched my TZ. I only want burnt oil/fuel coming out my tailpipes, not pistons.

Final word on the C12. she says that it should be OK. Check the color, it should be nice and green. If it's faded... the octane has probably been reduced...

I'd definitely ditch the pre-mix though.
