Porn and HIV

AIDS Healthcare Foundation | LA Weekly: Profiles AHF’s “Adult Film Condom Campaign”

"After waging a six-year battle against Southern California’s multibillion-dollar porn industry with no end in sight, Michael Weinstein, the outspoken, hard-charging founder of the Los Angeles–based AIDS Healthcare Foundation, is getting ready for another rumble.
“AHF doesn’t give up on an issue,” Weinstein says, “and we’re not going to give up on this.

"The industry’s medical consultants say that about 350,000 sex scenes have been shot without condoms since 2004, and H.I.V. has not been transmitted on a set once."

I think one of their goals is to encourage safe sex behaviours, not just for those making the films but for people watching them.

Hey when the gardener comes in for a drink of Lemonade and to collect payment for his services, and the housewife lounging in the kitchen in her shorty shorts is overcome by lust and a need to avoid the bill, who thinks of such trivial things as protection from STDs while having anal sex with complete strangers.....

Following that logic, we should not be serving alcohol at ballgames. How many kids learn to act like idiots by watching that display? There must be tons of examples like that in society.

all they are going to do is encourage the porn industry to move to a place more conducive to their operations. nobody wants to watch condom/dental dam porn. I think we will see more porn coming from maybe Nevada in the not to distant future. after all, nobody wants to see a money shot just fill up a rubber.

that is what parents are for. If somebody is watching porn for guidance they are seriously delusional.

Yep agree.

johnyisthedevil, I wasn't meaning for guideance directly but I can see porn wearing condoms might help some people think before they make a serious mistake ... as they fumble around.

Anyway I agree the industry will just move ... wish it would just close down, but that will never happen. We so over focus on sex ...

Mandatory use of condoms in porn is a bit like having to wear your seatbelt on an airplane. It might make people feel safer but if something is really wrong you are seriously f***ed (literally in the former case).

This was a rather sneaky way for opponents in CA to remove the porn industry from the state. Just make the restrictions such that no one would want the product.

This is similar to how they have effectively banned capital punishment. IIRC CA requires a physician to administer the lethal drugs. But no doctor will do that as it violates the Hypocratic Oath. Defacto ban.

Crazy ... as sburns2421 said, they are simply banning it.
