The Global Warming Scam Was Explained Almost 20 Years Ago

Bookmark this classic 1995 article in the Canberra Times. This guy had the entire scam nailed from day one.

To conclude that CO2 emissions are a threat to the environment would be doubtful and premature. Only a closer examination of the atmosphere over a long period and further detailed studies will decide the matter,” Barrett said in a recent scientific paper which caused frissons of anger among scientists.

Barrett, from Imperial College’s chemistry department, pours thinly veiled scorn on the arguments of the “warmers”, saying they are based on unreliable data, misunderstand the self-correcting nature of the earth’s atmosphere and represent science-by-committee. He says IPCC scientists based their theories on the fact that the earth’s temperature has increased by 0.8°C in the 20th century.

“This is within the expected margins of error for such a study,” he says. “A hard scientific view would be that there has been no discernible change in the earth’s temperature despite the significant increase of 25 per cent in the level of carbon dioxide. To blame the increase in carbon dioxide level for this alleged slight temperature increase seems to be a piece of poor scientific judgment that only a large committee could achieve.

“The lPCC’s reports do indicate that the conclusions are not unanimous but none of the doubters’ arguments is published. Proper science is not carried out by voting.”

The world’s climate had fluctuated naturally over the centuries. In Roman Britain, the climate was warm enough to allow grapes for red wine to be cultivated in the south.

“In the 20th century factors influencing the weather have been volcanic eruptions which put vast quantities of gas and dust into the atmosphere. Another factor is the variation in the strength of the sun depending on sun-spot cycles.

“And what the ‘warmers’ cast aside — the effect of variations in temperature in the oceans. Because if the oceans warm up by whatever means — maybe volcanic activity on the seabed, and there’s a lot of that — if the ocean warms up then CO2 will be less soluble forcing more of it out [into the atmo- sphere].

“The ‘warmers’ are possibly putting the cart before the horse. The sea warms up, then the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere goes up; there’s a lag of about five months.”

Barrett points out with some glee that much of conventional opinion 15 years ago, using similar data, was predicting the earth was heading for a new ice age.

Normally scientific argument is rigorous and open, but these fellas at the IPCC publish their own conclusions. It’s a hell of a gravy train this, I tell you, which is why they don’t like seeing any doubts expressed. There is scope here for argument; there are so many uncertainties. It’s OK for academics to talk about these things and argue bitterly, but it’s another to come to a premature decision that will cost governments a vast amount of money.”

It's hard to believe that almost 8 years have passed since I started this thread.
I rarely come by speedzilla anymore to follow up on this forum.
Katsung has destroyed what was a fairly good debate forum w/ his conspiracy theories.

Many thousands of posts hence, the same progressive media narrative is being promulgated on the world and it seems many of the same dolts who originally defended what has since been renamed "climate change", are still preaching this religion.

Will it ever go away despite the failure of the climate models and the outing of Prof. Hockeysticks' fraudulent bending of the raw data ?

How To Be A Global Warming Slimeball

Arctic ice cap is in a ‘death spiral’, claims leading academic
Peter Wadhams, professor of ocean physics at Cambridge University, said that the ice cap has now melted so much that open water is now just 350 miles form the North Pole. This is the shortest distance ever recorded. He added: “The Arctic ice cap is in a death spiral.”

There was a notch in the ice (blue circle above) caused by persistent winds in a narrow region. It nothing to do with the overall state of the ice. Incredibly slimy to mislead readers like that.
His findings coincide with satellite observations from the US National Snow and Ice Data Centre (NSIDC) released last week. The figures revealed that the Arctic cap lost a staggering 11,100 square miles of ice per day in the first half of September – for comparison Wales measures just 8,100 square miles.
Ice loss in the first half of September was just about normal. Quoting numbers out of context with intent to mislead, is just about what we expect from these people.

Does ANYONE still believe the Climate Change hype?

Celebrating 35 Years Of Climate Scientists Misleading The Public

Climate scientists love 1979, because it was very cold and allows them to create wildly misleading graphs which conflate one leg of a cycle with a long-term linear trend. In the private sector this is called fraud, but in government it allows you to claim you won the Nobel Prize.

There's no one left to dispute The Religion of Global Warming. It's a scam and even the most dense know it. And in 10 years you'll hear many of the "warmers" say it never was their position - and that they never said it was for certain - and finally that things change. Heck they'll have already moved on to something bigger and more important, such as White Priveledge.

Last month, we are told, the world enjoyed “its hottest March since records began in 1880”. This year, according to “US government scientists”, already bids to outrank 2014 as “the hottest ever”. The figures from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) were based, like all the other three official surface temperature records on which the world’s scientists and politicians rely, on data compiled from a network of weather stations by NOAA’s Global Historical Climate Network (GHCN).

But here there is a puzzle. These temperature records are not the only ones with official status. The other two, Remote Sensing Systems (RSS) and the University of Alabama (UAH), are based on a quite different method of measuring temperature data, by satellites. And these, as they have increasingly done in recent years, give a strikingly different picture. Neither shows last month as anything like the hottest March on record, any more than they showed 2014 as “the hottest year ever”.

An adjusted graph from the Goddard Institute for Space Studies

Back in January and February, two items in this column attracted more than 42,000 comments to the Telegraph website from all over the world. The provocative headings given to them were “Climategate the sequel: how we are still being tricked by flawed data on global warming” and “The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest scientific scandal”.

My cue for those pieces was the evidence multiplying from across the world that something very odd has been going on with those official surface temperature records, all of which ultimately rely on data compiled by NOAA’s GHCN. Careful analysts have come up with hundreds of examples of how the original data recorded by 3,000-odd weather stations has been “adjusted”, to exaggerate the degree to which the Earth has actually been warming. Figures from earlier decades have repeatedly been adjusted downwards and more recent data adjusted upwards, to show the Earth having warmed much more dramatically than the original data justified.
So strong is the evidence that all this calls for proper investigation that my articles have now brought a heavyweight response. The Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF) has enlisted an international team of five distinguished scientists to carry out a full inquiry into just how far these manipulations of the data may have distorted our picture of what is really happening to global temperatures.

The panel is chaired by Terence Kealey, until recently vice-chancellor of the University of Buckingham. His team, all respected experts in their field with many peer-reviewed papers to their name, includes Dr Peter Chylek, a physicist from the National Los Alamos Laboratory; Richard McNider, an emeritus professor who founded the Atmospheric Sciences Programme at the University of Alabama; Professor Roman Mureika from Canada, an expert in identifying errors in statistical methodology; Professor Roger Pielke Sr, a noted climatologist from the University of Colorado, and Professor William van Wijngaarden, a physicist whose many papers on climatology have included studies in the use of “homogenisation” in data records.
Their inquiry’s central aim will be to establish a comprehensive view of just how far the original data has been “adjusted” by the three main surface records: those published by the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (Giss), the US National Climate Data Center and Hadcrut, that compiled by the East Anglia Climatic Research Unit (Cru), in conjunction with the UK Met Office’s Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction. All of them are run by committed believers in man-made global warming.
Below, the raw data in graph form

For this the GWPF panel is initially inviting input from all those analysts across the world who have already shown their expertise in comparing the originally recorded data with that finally published. In particular, they will be wanting to establish a full and accurate picture of just how much of the published record has been adjusted in a way which gives the impression that temperatures have been rising faster and further than was indicated by the raw measured data.
Already studies based on the US, Australia, New Zealand, the Arctic and South America have suggested that this is far too often the case.
But only when the full picture is in will it be possible to see just how far the scare over global warming has been driven by manipulation of figures accepted as reliable by the politicians who shape our energy policy, and much else besides. If the panel’s findings eventually confirm what we have seen so far, this really will be the “smoking gun”, in a scandal the scale and significance of which for all of us can scarcely be exaggerated.

I got to wondering about your posts, Dan. They seemed rather idiologically driven, in a political way that I recognize from past experience. So I looked up one of your links and found the following regarding the lead person on your panel of experts.
[I]"Professor Kealey studied medicine at Oxford University before lecturing on clinical biochemistry, which is primarily concerned with the analysis of bodily fluids, at Cambridge University. It is unclear what experience he has in the field of climate change."[I]

I would hope for better sources from you in the future, Dan. I'm left only to assume that your other links are equally disreputable.

Here's another link that I found. It's from an official organization, not a rag tag group of bodily fluid doctors and whatnot who are funded by no one knows who. Have fun reading.

I don't know about disputing but I don't appreciate the fact that you link blogs and other non-official sites that are in disagreement with official climatology related organizations. Seems like you have an agenda to mislead driven by a fearful opinion of science. What's up with that?
You might want to read up on what's actually happening on Earth before you go ballistic on science:
https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/global/201511
Here's a highlight, since I doubt you'd take the time to learn what is actually happening on our planet:

The combined average temperature over global land and ocean surfaces for November 2015 was the highest for November in the 136-year period of record, at 0.97°C (1.75°F) above the 20th century average of 12.9°C (55.2°F), breaking the previous record of 2013 by 0.15°C (0.27°F). This marks the seventh consecutive month that a monthly global temperature record has been broken. The temperature departure from average for November is also the second highest among all months in the 136-year period of record.

That's for November. I'd be happy to link yearly average global temps too if you'd like because they are setting record after record too.

So here is the official site, not a blog from a cranky non-climatology scientist.
https://www2.ucar.edu/climate/faq/ho...last-100-years

the three decades from 1983 to 2012 were likely the warmest 30-year period of the last 1400 years

analyses from all three groups point to the decade between 2000 and 2009 as the hottest since modern records began more than a century ago. Temperatures in the 2010s have been running slightly warmer still

FYI, the data for 2015 is about to be presented. When it becomes available I'll link it up. But I can tell you already that everyone knows 2015 is ANOTHER record high temperature year. Another one - coming at a time of ANOTHER record year for measure greenhouse gases. One plus one equals two, not zero.

Bogus. That's not the graph that you linked to. You show no link to grant money other than your bastardized, unsubstantiated, politicized graph. WTF? Have you been lying to the readers at Speedzilla all this time? Do I need to go back and proofread all your posts? It seems so.

Sure Joe. You keep reading those "official sites" that are official climatology-related organizations, you know, because they don't have an agenda to mislead. It's just common sense right Joe? And then I can read up on what's actually happening on Earth.

NOAA is "official" isn't it? Pretty simple stuff. I don't know why I didn't just go to an "Official" site instead of these "other" sites that mislead. Because we all know Earth has been warming and we're setting records all over the place. Right? And the arctic is melting. Right? And polar bears are suffering because of shrinking ice. Right?

I don't know why I didn't just go to an "official" site right off the bat and not waste all this time.

2015 Was One Of The Coolest Years On Record In The US

Posted on January 1, 2016 by stevengoddard

Government climate experts say that the US is getting much hotter, but the exact opposite is true. Both the number of hot days and the real extent of heatwaves in the US is plummeting.

In 1936 nearly 80% of US stations reached 100 degrees, but the the past three years have been closer to 30%. A massive decline.

The frequency 100 degree days has plummeted from 5% in 1936 to about 1% in recent years.

The frequency of 90 degree days has also plummeted from 15% in 1936, down to 9% in 2015.

Most of the time when you hear a climate statistic from a government expert, it is pretty safe to assume that the exact opposite is true,
