$50k, never will be street-legal, and zero warranty?

Sounds like a machine for the guys whose first decision each day is to take the Pagani or the La Ferrari.

He is probably subconsciously worried you will be faster than him on the same equipment.

Yep r1 is a horrible choice... you know with that great chassis, the useable power output and amazing electronics package. it's a horrible deal.
I could see the sentiment with an 02/03 since they were very short wheel based and an aggressive power curve. but the 09-14 and then the 15 are all great bikes that handle super well.

I'd just go for a real superbike and be done with it. The Royal Enfield GT Cafe is your answer....full-on 28HP and looks to kill.

Funny because I am leaning towards an MV F3 800.

I think I'm waiting to see Kawi's new ZX10R though. I really want to get back on a 1000 and with parts for my F4 being out of production at the MV factory, it might be best left for Living Room duty at this stage.

It's very possible that I may go back to Japan. Except Honda though. I hate Honda.

Bah. Take it from a person who owns three unusual bikes with the newest one being 15 years old now...you will always be able to get parts somewhere.

When your 25-year-old Ducati 851, of which perhaps 500 were imported over three years, is the easiest of the three to find parts owning an MV made in the last decade would be child's play to keep on the road.

Hey just scored a new (well looks brand new) rear seat cowl for the 851 this week. Soon after I bought the bike in '96 one of my cousins cracked my original one while I was away taking others for rides on the bike at my grandparents house. Don't see the cousins ever, grandparents are long gone. Bike still in the garage.

Even then, the part was officially NLA from Ducati North America. This was only five years after the '90-91 body style went out and Ducati was owned by TPG.

Have seen a few on Ebay over the years but finally got this one. 19 years later. for $90 bucks shipped.

Thanks sburns,

I need for something to happen before I can part with $25Gs for the H2.

If that thing doesn't happen and I miss out I am probably going to get 2 bikes.

05 Benelli Tornado Tre 900

I wonder if that's the same one that I was looking at on Cycletrader a few months ago. In any case, I just launched a side business and I'm putting resources into that right now so I need a little bit more time. That $25G could do my business a lot of good right now so that would explain my delay.

Cycletrader had one at a big Ducati dealer in Oregon this summer. It is not the same bike.

This one has been for sale off and on for a year or more.

Good material here:

Sometimes having a few dollars in your pocket sucks. I'm stuck in a loop. I'm liking what I see with the H2 and I'm just about ready to take delivery, but I still like the 899 a lot and I've seen a bunch of lightly used ones go for $10k.

The S1000RR is very nice and will scratch my track itch whereas the H2 won't be able to do that.

The MV F3 is just flat out gorgeous! Damn, maybe I should get them all! My wife is gonna kill me.

On the flipside, and please don't flame me. I really like the Porsche Cayman. I've been itching to buy a new one for the past couple of years.

Barry, can I get a loan?
