DaveJB Oh boy, I'm right in the same boat, almost. I just put down a non refundable deposit on a 2005 that's immaculate. It may be awhile until I can ride it because of an accident but it was also on my bikes to own bucket list.

Kapitän Graubär An Öhlins shock built to your weight and riding style will transform the ride. Also suggest getting the forks re sprung and re valved.

The bike looks great

First RC51. What a beast! Im in love.

Just came home with 2002 RC51 SP2 with 17K miles. Been on my bucket list for years.

I have been riding for 20 yrs. This is hands down my most exciting and powerful bike I ever rode. Torque monster. Amazing sound!

Pros.
-The engine!
-The engine and the engine.
-Fuel injected.
-The LCD Speedo
-Overbuilt!
-Soul

Cons.
-The ride. Super stiff!
-The weight from being overbuilt.

What should I do to improve the bike? Where can I get an PDF file for the manual? Thanks in advance for any advice on preserving and improving this great bike.
