Ducati Monster Clip Ons.

Owner of Ducati Monster 620. My forks are not adjustable, have the Coffin looking cast aluminium brake fluid reservoir. In search of some clip ons so that wont force me to buy any extra accessories for it to work. Any links to websites for clip ons that might work for me would be much appreciated !

That was my first thought. Let me tell you now that it is a flawed one. The 'knuckle' on the clamp won't allow the master cylinders to clear and attach to the bars. So you have to push them forward with pillow blocks. Here are a few pics of my wife's M620 I just finished.

SpeedyMoto top clamp for Monster
40mm risers from a Sport Classic
Headlight bracket from a Sport Classic
Custom pillow blocks to push master cylinders past bar clamps
Custom brackets to support top of headlight bracket allowing clearance for stock brake and clutch lines. (notice the speedometer is push forward as well)

Clip ons

Man I cant believe some of yall are complaining about the ergonomics on this setup. Maybe its a different crowd over here in the Monster world, but i find the factory bar position on the Monster to be one of the biggest negatives of the bike. Something Jesse James would sell.

The clip ons make it a proper sporting motorcycle. To each their own.

I agree with Chris though, dont use the factory 916 bars, the single best ergo change I made to my 996 was dumping those.

Capt. Home Slice True, the low clip ons are murderous when used on the street. Not bad for track stuff though, get much needed weight over the front.

chris_k As another data point:

The MH900e has "monster / ss" forks with 916 clip-ons. Ducati shipped the bike with shims between the fork tubes and the clip-ons. The shims are simply 1mm thick pieces of aluminum.

Personally, I think the SBK clip-ons are horrendous: they've caused long term nerve damage to my wrists. So I use helibars instead.

clopstyle I put Suburban Machinery bars on upside down and they end up pretty close to where most clip ons are. Plus I was able to keep the bug screen on if that matters.

Capt. Home Slice You'll need to consider brake/clutch line and throttle cable length/routing. Other than that it's fairly easy. I had Vortex clip ons when I had my Monster...

2001chromo I prefer the clips ons actually. I've got mine mounted above the triple. Complete with SBK front end.

My Buddy bought an Sie back in October with clip ons, I BELIEVE they are vortex. I'd be happy to check. In any case, I LOVE the way it looks and rides with them, so much so that I've decided to buy one now too, and I never liked Monsters.

bababoy hey b'oi racer,

i look forward to those pics.

b'oi racer I installed riser clip ons from a Sport Classic and replaced the triple clamp with a SpeedyMoto clamp. I like the way it looks and the rise is nice but what a pain in the ass to mod all of it to the bike. I am making spacers for the masters and new brackets for the headlamp currently. Just one more step in the ongoing saga of Monster Madness!! I will post a pic as soon as I take one.
