Moriwaki Stage 1 Cams

I have a set of these here, and I'm having second thoughts on putting them in.

Realistically (and i have done alot of research on them) what am i looking at for gains from these ? From what i have seen it will be all mid range power since its only the duration that is different over the stock cams, the lift is the same.

That being said is it worth it to pull the engine apart and put these in, or is it not going to be worth the hassle and $$

I do most of my own work on the bike, but with this i would have someone put them in for me. Im also going to need someone to tune the bike after which is more $$

The bike only sees street duty and this is what i would have for supporting mods

Sato Banzai's
T1 airbox
T1 snorkel
PC3r

I guess what I am asking is it worth spending the money on the cams/tuning/installation for a 9 year old bike ?

I can't say what power or torque gains are to be had, but I understand the stage 1 cams use the OEM valve train.
So installing the cams is not difficult at all.

A service manual, socket set, torque wrench, feeler gauges, a tube of break in lube, some gasket sealer, and whatever shims are needed is all it takes.

If you do decide to install them check the timing, don't assume Moriwaki had it right when they left the factory. See JD's post from my build thread:

You might find better advice on Honda RC51 Forum : RC51 Motorcycle Forums

If you do decide not to put them on, I'll take these off your hands for a good price. Just PM me!

Go to this site and click Mods then Exhaust information for the most info in one location for the RC

ROGUE RC51 Owners Group of United Enthusiasts

Bottom line is this

The short of it is with the RC51 (for other bikes keep reading) I think that Slip-ons are satisfactory for street riding & I only recommend Full Systems if you intend to do internal engine modifications such as pistons & cams etc...

Like Subsailor said, the stage 1 cams utilize the factory valvetrain. The install is very easy. Took me about 2 hours and that includes the valve check and re-shim.

Gains are not huge as you already know, but i feel it was worth it.
