It handles incredibly, like you're steering it telepathically. Great brakes, very light. Could use a steering damper, I'm suprised it didn't come with one from the factory. My only real complaints thus far are the motor and the OEM rearsets.

The bike makes a lot of power but it's hard to keep it in the guts. My bike's dead stock except for Pazzo levers. It needs to be geared like crazy and could use a Power Commander to get some smoother delivery. The last turn @ the track I go to is a slow 90 degree right, I go through it at 8500RPM in 1st gear and smack it wide open. The bike just hangs there for a second or 2 THEN surges forward, it's brutal. The OEM rearsets are sloppy, I missed a lot of shifts. Rear brake pedal is good but I still want aftermarket sets.

With some investment in select areas it would be a ripper I can feel it. But, I'm looking to sell it to fund the RC51 project so if anyone's interested......

what are you asking?

Yeah the bike doesn't get into the meat until 9500. If your having problems with missed shifts move your shifter down a bit. This might be a foot position problem thats easily fixed.

For next year I am seriously considering a new model R6 (2006+) for my next track bike. I am probably selling my 2003 TLR and 99 TLR (parts bike) in the spring.
I will be keeping my TZ250 and run all Yamaha next year at the track. During the winter, I will be sending my TZ motor out for a professional rebuild. Looking forward to getting back on it next year with a fresh motor. This thing is simply incredible and super fun to ride. Its amazingly light and deceptively powerful for such a small bike.

Here are a couple of shots from Summit Point Shenandoah from this past Labor Day of my TZ250.

Terrific looking track bike. Exactly what I am looking for next season. Light, agile and similar power band as the TZ250...very high RPMs. I am still learning how to ride my bike after coming from TLR's and RC51 bikes, but its definitely a fun transition.

Thats funny I always loved the smokers. Couple years back I rode with a guy that had an awesome 250. I could not believe the straight line speed it had.

One lap I followed this bike into a nice tight corner. I was feeling good and I was thinking if he can make it through at that speed I should. Just about the point of no return I noticed it was the guy on the 250. At this time I was running an RC51. A couple of choice words entered my mind and I really thought I was going to die. LOL Moral of the story never follow a 250 into a corner and never ever try to match speeds of a 125 in a corner unless your on one.
When I switched to the R6 I couldn't believe the corner speed I could have and still feel comfortable. I can't imagine what it feels like with the 250.

I can't seem to get rid of the damn thing so it looks like I'll be keeping it. Kind of sucks because I really wanted to get back on an RC51, but I can't let the R6 go for too little or I can't afford an RC base. Oh well

So my question is if there's anything you would suggest to me to make this little thing a rocket. Any mods, settings, processes you've discovered in your time racing it I'd love to hear about. I've got maybe 4 hours on this bike and don't know all that much about it

Rubio, what the heck is that red thing mounted on the right side of the swingarm. It looks like a cell phone or an Ipod perhaps?
