tire question

I have an 03 with Mtezler me3's on it. The rear tire is worn out but the front still has good tread left on it. My question is can I just replace the rear? It has 3800 miles on it, and I only ride on the street. I dan't know if it has been through too many heat cycles to still be safe. I am not trying to be too cheap but I don't want to replace a tire I don't have too.

If the front isn't cupped and you can get the same series rear tire your good to go.
