Parking at Laguna for Moto GP

Received an email from Laguna stating that there will be very limited on-site car parking at Laguna for the Moto GP. You can purchase a $50 parking pass for the weekend in advance but there are very few avail. Most will have to park at Cal State Monterey and ride a free shuttle in. Motorcycles are welcome to park on site for free.

Yea supposedly they trying to fix the cluster fvck of last yr. I think they have only 3 entrances, this yr they're going to have 1 strictly for the buses (like last yr), 1 for spectators, mostly bikers and 1 for commercial deliveries, teams and track personnel. Although it sounds like a pita for spectators it seems like a better plan......shorter lines and wait getting in & out.

the line to get in/out was ridiculous. my sister-in-law sat in a line for over 3 hrs. to get in. if you ride up on a bike it will only take like 20-30 minutes with lane splitting, and the police may give an escort for the bikes (did last year). just walking back to the bikes after the race last year took an hour. i think what they are doing is a good plan. anything is better than last year.

Thumbs down GP Parking/Traffic

I've had the same camp-spot the past few years. Last year's traffic was a nightmare...I was able to chill out in the 48' RV until traffic cleared...but it took hours (in & out of the grounds). I was told it took so long to clear b/c the Monterey Police Dept. were only allowing cars to exit from one side of the premises (sp?). I forget which one. The other main road was not to be used in order that locals would be minimally effected by the thousands of commuters. Certainly understandable, but still ridiculous.

Be carefull lane-splitting. A lot of guys were being very "liberal" with the splitting and were cited by the same Montery Police.
If you're going to go, plan on coming early and leaving late. My :twocents .
