I accidentally ran across a similar clip that works much better. The outer sleeve is not flanged. Only when you push the inner pin into place does the outer sleeve become flanged - just like a normal rivet. They go in, and come out real easy. I guess you could lose a clip if the inner pin somehow pops out - the $0.50 is worth the lack of aggravation.
I forgot to hang onto the little bag with the part number.
