Battery shorted out on frame!

2006 model - riding to work and hit a bump. Bike goes completely dead. I get it home to find burnt area from the positive battery terminal on the metal cross member. (I’ve never messed with the battery, so WTF??) I took the battery out and used a spare I had. Checked all the fuses and To my surprise, everything was still good. Bike lights up and cranks but no fire in the pipes. Local Honda Shop told me to start with starter regulator. Nope. I am Mechanical, but electrical is not my strong points. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Have you checked all the fuses, including the "hidden" ones (one behind the battery and one near the regulator, IIRC) ?

Keep the wire tight
