Yea I don't get it either... Ben permanently bans 2 of the more colorful members of the forum, but the one guy that has been irrefutably determined to be the most despised member on the bored oops I mean board in a public poll conducted on this site is being reinstated shortly.
Could it be because that guy pays to be a vendor.

IF they were allowed back, do you really think they'd come back? I wouldn't.
If I had to guess I would say both couldn't stay away.
Although by reinstating them they might take it that everyone likes their special style of posts and that could embolden them to be more of what they were.
I can't speak for everyone, but to me it is less about sanctioning the way they post than it is that everyone should be able to post as long as they do not threaten violence or racist comments. If you want to see how a little public shame can change the tone dramatically in a member you need only look at mrgrn. It is better IMO to keep people as members if they are an asshole and give them a public flogging than to ban them. You never know, they might learn something about themselves in the process if they self-reflect.
There have been a number of annoying people, I personally have only had one person banned. That was ADG a year or so ago. Everything was n***** this and n***** that. I had enough and complained. For the record he remains the only person I ever complained to admins about.
Recently another little shit (freq) started posting and he is/was very annoying. But I wouldn't complain to admins about him unless the aformentioned racist/violence posts started. He was actually why I started this thread, I saw he was banned and wondered why. As much of an asshat I have concluded him to be, he shouldn't be banned from the posts I have seen.

Come'on now Ben... Nobody said it was easy. It's all about compromise and you are just about there with it you just need to stick with it as your learning curve is starting to get a lot less steep

Ben surely you must have realized what you were getting into here having been a member since 2005. Don't get all but hurt. Hang in there and look at it as a learning experience. You as a moderator should not be too thin skinned and maybe just adjust your style a bit.

Just kidding. Some selective banning and shaming is always in order here. Reconsider, adapt and overcome.
We kind of made it clear early on that we as a community wanted a bit of a voice in the process.
Just a gentler hand, a little more tolerance of our communities quirks, faults, short comings as well as strengths. Personalities is what this place is about, as well as motorcycles.

If you can't cope, go kick a stray dog or cat. If that doesn't work, put them on ignore and post a million times about having someone on ignore even though you secretly still read their posts. Heck, I was upset for 0.02 secs when MrGrn got banned.
