Default 998R Value?

After a tragic end to a friend of a friends life, the family is trying to decide what to do with his 998R.

I haven't seen the bike personally, but was wondering if any of you have any idea what the value is of a stock 998R in great shape.

KBB puts the value at $11.2K, but I haven't seen any for sale online to see what the going rate may be.

Any advice?

If it doesn't have any issues, $18k, maybe a little more.

KBB doesn't seem to take the collectability into account.

Default 998r

Sorry to hear about the passing of the previous owner of the bike. I am respectfully interested in the bike if it is for sale. PM sent. Thanks

I agree with the others. If the bike is clean w/ low mileage and has records, selling it for anywhere near KBB would be basically giving it away. If the family doesn't need the money immediately, I would list it a little north of $20K and then go down from there. They don't come up for sale often and they are relatively rare, so Ducati enthusiasts will pay the price. I think in SPS's thread, he got offers of over $20K but was sticking to his price of $24K, I don't know if that bike is as clean as the one you're discussing, but possibly PM him and use that as a benchmark....Sorry to hear about your friend

Sorry for the delay on the follow up.

Due to the previous owner not having a will, the bike (and everything else) is going to his son that from my understanding hasn't had a relationship with his father for many many years.

If anything changes, I'll post an update.
