Default Shipping engine from US to Germany?

I have a few potential buyers of that 999r motor for sale, both overseas. Has anyone ever shipped a motor to Germany or UK? Cheapest quote I've gotten so far is $1100!

Buy a ticket and check as baggage.

Have no other ideas.

Default 3pl

I did Fedex for you and came up with $788 which is full retail for 150lbs going from Atlanta to Munich.

Any good shipper with Fedex will get a discount off of that.

What you are looking for though is Freight Broker or a 3rd Party Logistics provider and then you can get a deal. Call ours (763) 201-2558 maybe he can give you someone in your area that uses him and you can do it thru them.

Can it go Sea Freight?

Default price will be high because:

Price will be high because:
  • Weight will require a wide body a/c
  • Unknown shipper... must fly on a cargo only aircraft (CAO)
  • CAO capacity out of ATL is limited and 95% allready sold to consolidators.
  • Capacity to FRA is tight a well.
  • ATL to FRA via freighter is very expensive.
  • engines are dangerous goods (DG)... DG rates are higher, and must be packed and certified by a DG specialist.... unless you can clean and purge of all oil / gas and have freight forwarder give a non-haz AWB.
  • My advise... call a freight forwarder... get a quote for a non-haz unknown shipper in a space avail. consol.
Best Regards

Sometimes there are people hiring a container to ship bikes from the States to Germany. It was quite popular when the Dollar was very weak. Some dealers that do business with overseas people might know. You could always ask these people and put the engine on a pallet.

I looked into doing it and gave up on it because it just is not worth the hassle for the few coins you save.

Fedex has some sort of discount rate service available much like the travel sites. they have the plane going anyway so why not fill the space and get some $$ rather than flying Air.

I can not remember the name but i bet you can find it on google.

we were trying to ship a huge box ( D16 Team GP Exhaust ) to Australia and the best i could get was $1100-$1200 he got it for $600.

sorry i cant remember the name i will try to call him.

Thanks for the leads guys. The buyer(s) have changed his mind, so at this point it's a mute issue.

For future reference it is Great Rates desk of FedEx. They will give you the best deal for a certain day when the cargo loads are light. Best deal I had was an RC51 engine to Bangkok for $200.

Your biggest problem when sending to Germany is customs...and they geld they want....****kers...

I guess it is good timing your customer backed out...I do not think there is going to be any air freight to DE for awhile thanks to the Volcano.
