Default Best way to clean the grease/gunk off casing?

Just wondering if anyone knows of a safe/good product to get the grease/gunk off the engine cases.
I dont want to use something off the shelf from the local auto store that isn't made for motorcycles.

Thank you

WD-40 will dissolve it. It works well on the underside of a fairing for the streaks of road goo that seem to accumulate. I have used it in the countershaft area, it works well.

Pickup a gallon of mineral spirits at the hardware and fill a squirt bottle. It won't hurt paint and will dissolve the gunk nicely.

kerosene... cheap and incredibly effective. although a plastic pick will help to remove most of the buildup before using kerosene and an old toothbrush

A buddy of mine turned me onto Green something this weekend. I can't remember the name for the life of me but it took everything off. By the time I got to the front of the time we were diluting it 50/50 with water and could have taken it down even more.

I picked up a large bottle for like 12-14 USD.

It does not excist any product like that. You have to make up your mind if you want to buy an expensive motorcycle product that does not work or if you go the the local autostore and buy some thing that actualy works that is not made for motorcycles.

All the products suggested are good.

Cerosene, mineral spirits, WD40. It just depends how dirty it is. I use WD40 for the most of the time.

Default Cleaner

Simple Green concentrate in the pump bottle straight. A minor amount of brushing with a small paint brush and wash off. Works for me for that very purpose.

Watch out for that purple stuff. It'll corrode aluminum.
