Question a very quick question about clutch plate orientation

hello all,
have a '96 ss/cr with 5600 miles and decided to check/clean the clutch pack during the winter refresh. stack height measures 38.53mm, did a search and will make sure to align the cast arrow with the notched pin. i'll make sure and maintain the original sequence of discs, plates, and wavy plate with paint dot.

my question is, i've noticed plates have a cresent-shaped cutout on the outer edge, and seems to be no logic to their placement. the position varies, am i missing something? or can these plates be reinstalled without regard to cutout orientation? many thanks,
bobp

Don´t worry about the cutout. It doesn´t make a difference when installed.

i think the cut out is there to help remove them easier, I could be wrong though.

I believe you are correct....if all plates are placed with the cutout in orientation a tool/ pick can be used to pull the stack as one...or one by one....making removal less of a headbanging endeavor !
