Who can bore cases (916) - Orange County
Any idea where I can get cases bored to fit larger barrels for a 955 kit. New old stock OEM 916 cases need to be bored to 102mm openings.
New cases as old ones cracked in several places. Owner got it off the street just in time before the thing came apart.
Orange County CA preferred. Scott Waters doesn't know anyone anymore, GP Cycles suggests Nigel Patrick.

Terry,
About a year ago, I had some auto wheel spacers shaved at the shop linked below in Costa Mesa. I was pretty impressed by the shop, and the owner, John, sounded quite competent. Opening the cases should be very straight forward for him.
Costa Mesa R&D
Whatever you do, don't go to the place that Champion recommends, some place up off of Kraemer in Anaheim, which, if I remember, is named D & R Machine.

You'd be better off buying a 996 engine.

Except that this uses a P-8 computer, early 2 phase charging system, ect. etc.

Did you already buy the cases?
I've got a set of 955 corse cases I bought new from AMS now with 1000miles on them I'd sell cheap. No boring required.

getting a loom, 1.6 ecu and steel subframe along with a 996 engine is still going to be cheaper.

Actually yes, the cases arrived here today, all bearings included, brand new never used, no motor number engraved, all for $350.
How much do you want for the 955 cases? It may be worth it to resell these and buy yours.
The stock barrel size is 100mm and I need the shave it to 102mm.

$200 but they aren't "brand new" however they are corse cases and $1600 dealer cost in 2003. $350 for brand new cases is a smokin' deal.
