Default Juuuust a little wiring issue

I'm posting this on a couple forums hoping someone is familiar with this mod.

I purchased a Euro headlight switch with the nifty turn the lights off feature for my 998. Fits well and is a plug and play install.
The way it is wired internally is to provide either low or high beam based on pressing the button. IIRC, someone posted a mod whereas you solder an internal jumper in the hi/lo switch to enable both bulbs to illuminate in the high position.

Anyone have the solution? Point a-b and perhaps wire colors to pinpoint?

Therte is a good DIY on ducati.ms for that.
749/999 Headlight Mod - Ducati.ms - The Ultimate Ducati Forum

I seem to recall that the switches are the same.

I actually wanted the switch to work in the opposite from how it is stock..
as stock, the lowbeam switches off when you push the highbeam button, but the lowbeam stays on when you hit the "pass" switch.

I would have liked to have the High/low button to light both headlights, but the PASS forefinger button to switch off the low when depressing that button. That way it would have been easy to duplicate the "wig-wag" of EMS vehicles.

I've looked at that post in the hall of wisdom on ducati.ms. Seems my Euro switch is colored different on the wiring. Some others have said the same. Anyone experience that?

Old Fart,

My 996R was a Euro bike, and I'm pretty sure the wiring has not been molested, but my low-beam stays on regardless of the high-beam status.

Send me your email address via my email address (my PM box here is full), and I will send you the trouble-shooting page for the left hand switch out of my 996R service manual (with the wiring diagram for the switch).

Thanks info. I haven't had time to work on the bike as the house is torn up for carpet and paint. I should be able to look at it some night this week and I'll ping you should I need your data.

Finally found time to look at the Euro switch wiring.
A small jumper soldered in between the lo and high within the switch did it. Now I have constant lo with the switched high.
This switch understandably helps quite a bit as to engine cranking speed with the lights turned off.

Sweet!

A thin wire can be used as the current is being taken by the headlight relay. The switch therefore only sees relay coil current which is a few miliamps. Other than this mod the part# 65140062A switch is a plug and play.
