You may recall a few months ago I posted something about a local individual who has crashed every bike he's ever owned (at low speed). The list goes something like this:
748 - Twice
996 - Once
998 Bayliss Replica - Twice
Hypermotard - Once
GSX-R1000 - Multiple
When he bought the Desmo we put together a pool on how many kilometers he would go before he crashed it. I pulled the ticket for 500 or under. Apparently I won - 474 km or less than 300 miles. Total damage - $45,000.
Just to give you an idea of the exorbitant parts prices Ducati is charging, a front brake lever is $1,000.00.
+1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At least when he finds a way to drop that it won't cost as much, and he won't get hurt! Good lord, in the words of the immortal one, "know when to walk away, know when to run"
Seriously though, I presume he's ok, and hope he gets safer!
NO YOU DI INT! I know a guy who has taken his Desmo apart and replaced the radiators and swingarm with Febur, the forks with FGR800, the wheels with PVMs and is working on the motor. It should be pretty fantastic when done.

now he needs to get rid of the base 1098 calipers and dodgy masters! haha
What's wrong with this guy that's a lot of crashing, lack of skill or care.
Lack of skill. Never any speed involved 'cause he's scared to ride quickly. Chicken strips an inch wide on all bikes. Has taken multiple riding courses (i.e. Spencer's in LV) but needs fundamentals.
Biggest problem is he reads all the "go faster" stuff and figures he needs it, buys it, and then crashes.
Example: Came into the shop where he bought the bikes and said that his bike wasn't counter steering. The service guy asked him to explain what the bike was doing. "Its not counter steering properly" was the answer. Difficult to get past that.
I hope for his sake that he doesn't get hurt 'cause to talk to him, he's not a bad guy.

Mate get him on a dirt bike before he does more damage to irreplaceable machines, there was a track day rider like this in OZ,although some of his dramas were not his fault, like writing off his MV at Eastern Creek when the oil filter came adrift at speed dumping its content in front of the rear tyre and I think 2 other bikes going in similar ways,no insurance on the track either
Sounds like he's buying bikes that are too much for him. He needs to check the ego at the door and pick up a dirtbike as previously mentioned or an EX500 for a season.
Dude doesn't have much common sense. If I bought a Desmo and I didn't have riding experience, I'd buy a beater to tool around on just to get my skills up and leave the Desmo in the living room until I got comfortable.

I know about this oil filter incident at Eastern Creek the guy went to court over it, everyone was blaming someone else, in the end I think only the owner knew that really happened
Yes thats the one,I cannot remember the full sp I
heard but there was a couple of bikes after the MV,it cost the bloke a fortune, its an expensive habit
muiltipal right offs
bit like muiltipal marages
