The best seating is at your home on the couch, or at a bar so you can see everything. Trust me, i know! Maybe i'm a little jadded since i have worked in the pits for many races (not Nascar, Grand-Am; but i have worked alongside at NASCAR events). If you aren't going to pay the money to get into the pits and paddock areas, there is really no point in going to a race. From what i have experienced, Nascar guys SUCK! They wont let you near their paddock/garages, It is a cool experience if you know someone and can get into all the areas, but if not, i think you will be dissapointed for the kind of money you are looking to spend. (If you want a good race weekend, rent a camping space on the infield for next years 24 hours of daytona! its a weekend long party!)
thanks motoxxx79; as a senior member, i appreciate your comments. and, i agree w/ you 110%.
unfortunately, my brother & i have never been to bike week, so this is our year to suffer through the rights as a biker/ducatisti.
this year i'll be 40, and will be able say "been there, done that." - no midlife crisis here, just living life, that's all.
i'm hoping someone from the Coastal Ducati Club can help out. i'm watching their board too.

The best place to actually watch the race is in the grandstands in the "H" or "I"section Seagrave Grandstand or Keech Grandstand.
I'll agree with Motoxxx79. However, seeing as you're going no matter what we say ( ), get a high-power set of binoculars and sit in the grandstand in the area of the finish line. You'll see some speed and with the binoculars you'll be able to see other parts of the track. That ticket should give you access to the infield where standing by the fence at the International Horseshoe isn't half bad.
Remember, the attraction at Daytona isn't necessarily corner speed, its the "holy smokes, those fackers are flying" speed they get on the banking.
Bike Week and the Daytona 200 are not related at all except for they fact that they occupy the same time and are in the same city. Bike Week is HD to the nth degree. If you go to the 200 while you are at Bike week to kill an evening enjoy it for what it is!
I went to the last AMA race in Las Vegas, while some viewing points were quite good, the overall impression was a disapointment. Daytona is a scale or two bigger than Las Vegas so the disapointment will be that much greater.
+1 for Ocean Deck. If you have some brass knuckles you could go to Razzles.
Other than that stay on the couch, have buds over and go ride when the weather is nicer.
After going to Daytona for many years you get real sick of the SFFHR. It's basically a big sweaty, stinky, loud, half-drunk traffic jam. For about a month or two after you will have an urge to run to the gun cabinet when you hear a loud Harley.
If you must go, do go to Bank and Blues. Cool hangout, say hi to Willie G if he's there. The Hess station is cool sometimes too. Sometimes gets to be a little bit latter-day Vanilla-Icey though.
you can move where ever you want in the stands. You might need to pay like $10 or so to get in the infield which should get you to pretty much any corner you want to see.
go to the CCS/ASRA races the week before. Tickets are cheap, you can walk through the pits and go anywhere you want, and there is no crowd. Most of the AMA teams (non-factory) will be there anyway.
I went about 10 years ago after seeing a few WSBK races at Laguna and was highly disappointed and swore I'd never go back. Plust there is only going to be like 6 bikes on the grid anyway, so at least you'll have plenty of time to converse with your buddy while you're waiting for the next bike to come around.

The 200 is up to 72 entries. The DMG plan seems to be working. ...
