Okay I got a question for all you experts on Ducati mods. I just got off the phone with Fast By Ferracci, attempting to get some new exhaust pipes for my 998 (Forza 54mm). I only need the head exhaust manifold and the head exhaust pipe for the vertical and horizontal cylinder to fit my existing Forza 54mm full exhaust from a 955. From my understanding from looking at the workshop manual the difference between them is these four peaces, is this correct?
After speaking with the parts guy at FBF, he told me the exhaust that I have will not work on my bike and I need to buy a WHOLE new system to fit. Does anyone have any experience with this issue? And if it’s true that there parts can’t be interchangeable, why is this done? Is it just a Forza marketing strategy, or is it a performance issue? Any help or advice will be appreciated, before I chuck in $1600 to them. Thanks!
Re: Fitting a 54mm Forza Exhaust on a 998 (section8superbike)
Oh cool I got a good welder on my hands that can help. Will I need to mess with the center exhaust pipe? Or is it just the header seal and pipe? The bends in the header pipes look about the same as the one on the 998.
Re: Fitting a 54mm Forza Exhaust on a 998 (BlackHawk)
i suspect you'd just need to make your 998 manifolds work on this system along with a bit of tweeking for routing. the mid-pipe should be fine as is i think. good luck!
Re: Fitting a 54mm Forza Exhaust on a 998 (s4strati)
The stock 998 manifolds are going to close down to a smaller diameter pipe than the Forza pipes that will run from the manifolds to the mid pipe. The stock manifolds will have to be made larger.
Re: Fitting a 54mm Forza Exhaust on a 998 (s4strati)
Morning Phil, Jason, and s4strati,...I think I can go to a muffler shop and have them find me a pipe to match the manifold openings to the 54 mm pipe. The only concern I have now is: the angle that the cyclinders stand is it the same across, or is it different?
Re: Fitting a 54mm Forza Exhaust on a 998 (BlackHawk)
Man that sound like too much trouble and work to go through. If you have the money just do it the right was lol. Unless you are going to save a considerable amount of money...and I mean more than just $200.00.
Re: Fitting a 54mm Forza Exhaust on a 998 (HeckLer1979)
Well, FBF will not sell me just the head seals and pipes...they will only sell the whole system ($1600) and I really don't need the whole system. If you have a set of headers that will fit a Forza or know someone please let me know otherwise I'm stuck with the custom fabrication.
What you’re looking at is what I fabricated out of some stainless steel pipes. After talking to FBF and them refusing to sell me just the exhaust header pipes, I was forced in to fabricating my own stainless steel header pipes. I did have a shop pre bend the pipes (all mandrel bends), a 90, 45 and a 15 degree’s. I did all the cutting and welding in my garage and for the first time doing this sort of work; I think I have done a pretty good job. Let me know what you guys think. Total cost like $100

Well, most of the time I would love to be able to buy stuff straight off the shelf, but in NZ we have to import any special goodies then alot of it becomes cost prohibitive from shipping unless we wonna wait a coupla months or more.
It is further complicated for me simply because I live in a little town of 4000 420 km away from the nearest decent dealer, hence I look on hear for goodies!
