Default A Couple of Days at BCM

I installed a Strati modified exhaust on my 04 749. I contacted BCM and asked them if they could tune my factory computer to the exhaust. They stated that it could be done. On 4/2/05 I took the trip up to BCM (about a 2.5 hour ride). Eric, the mechanic that worked on my bike, was great to deal with. He explained every step of the safety check, suspension set-up, sprocket change and tuning process to me. He also answered every other stupid question that I asked (with great patience). We ran the bike on the dyno. It made 96 hp on the first run. Prior to the first run I got a little nervous when Eric told me that he has seen modified exhausts make bikes actually lose power. I have to admit that my upper lip started to sweat. After a few more runs on the dyno (I think five), The bike ended up making 99.1 hp and 54.6 torque at rear wheel. Unfortunately due to the weather conditions (rain) the bike could not be test ridden. When I got it home the idle was set slightly lower than where it should have been.

I took a second trip to BCM where it was immediately corrected by the steady hands of Bruce Meyers. I guess that's why they call him the doctor! Bruce actually drilled through the air box to get the idle adjustment. The bike feels great. It was a lot faster than I expected it to be. The throttle feels crisp, and it pulls all the way to red line.

I would like to thank everyone at BCM (Bruce, Suzie, Eric, Bob, and Chris). I was treated with an extremely high degree of professionalism from the moment I stepped into the shop. I am extremely fortunate to have an asset like BCM only a couple of hours away. I read all of the dealer horror stories that pop-up on this site from time to time. Thank God I can't relate to them.

for whoever's interested, here's a shot of mark's post-tune pull. unfortunately, it wasn't logistically convenient to do a true before/after but here's the goods:

I'm headed back to BCM in a couple of weeks to have Bruce and the gang tweak the ECU on my 749 for the Sil Motor 50/54 system.
I can't wait to see the dyno charts...

They put on great track days too. Did the 2V / Virgin day opener this past Wed at Loudon. A blast, well run, congenial and expert instructors. Nice grub & snacks too.

Quick aside ... I picked up my ol 2V 900SSCR April '04 after a frame change and did a track day. Twds end of day my rt. side muffler wore thru the rivets. (no fault of BCM ... just fatigue from poor clamping I had prior) They took me in right away and fixed it GRATIS so I could head back to NY at a humane hour.
