Default Paulimoto versus Nichols Clutch Basket

Hi Folks,

New guy here on the Ducati board.

A little history: A hundred years ago I bought a new '92 Ducati 900 Superlite. Loved it and eventually traded that in for a Honda RC51. Traded THAT in for a black 999 S. Have a '92 750SS as well as a ZX-11.

Installed a Nichols Manufacturing clutch basket on the 900 with a Barnett clutch and witnessed a noticable improvement. VERY satisfied with product.

Question: I see that Paulimoto also manufactures a billet clutch basket. Does anyone have any experience with both? Any difference between them?

Thanks in advance for your input.

I have no experience with either two you mentioned.
But...here's the one I use on both my Ducs and highly reccomned it:
Waterjet, Waterjet Cutting Las Vegas, Waterjet Cutting, Waterjet Cutting Service Las Vegas, Waterjet Cutting Las Vegas Nevada, Waterjet Las Vegas Nevada, Waterjet and AbrasiveJet Job shops
Talk to Charlie there and he'll tell you about the advantages of his basket.
Good luck.

Thank you for that, Mr. Lidz.

Any idea of pricing? Not that that should be an issue - its a Ducati afterall.

I'm thinking between $4-500 for the complete clutch kit. Right, wrong or in between?

Thanks again.

I think it was $450-500 for the kit...BUT...he machines the basket and plates for a tighter fit, so it doesn't rattle as much and they last longer!!

Tried to reach these folks via phone and e-mail - no luck. So I thought, "If Tricklidz says this is a good thing then it must be so" ... and ordered it through Pro Italia.

Mr. Lidz, which clutch pack did you use? I've used Barnett before. You?

OK, last post on the subject...

Received the Paulimoto clutch basket. Its a frickin' work of art. Installed with a Barnett clutch pack with aluminum fibre plates. I think the whole thing weighs less than 3 pounds.

Distinctive (read:annoying) clutch rattle is gone, performance is up, and in my not-so-humble opinion anyone who doesn't spend the $400 to upgrade needs to think again.

Thanks to Tricklidz for the 411.
