Default First wheelie on my Monster...

I swear, I did not want to.
I swear, it just happened.
I swear, I loved it... ...

After I sold my 900SS, I got me an old Kawy-KLR650 to "move around" and go to work. Soon after that, I was "on one only", and hanging with the town`s kids having fun, but one night, I fell back after braking hard but still could not bring it forward, I was doing about 30 mph still and hurt my back when my butt hit the asfalt. Then I and sold the KLR. I did not ride a big bike ( only my girl friend scooter ) until I got this Monster. Yesterday, it just happened, I guess this thing is on my brain, or on my blood, I admit I am adicted to this.
It is easy on the Monster, she just want to keep on going, it`s really easy, but I will try not to do it again. I don`t want to get hurt again.
I know it will happen again if I don`t do something, please help me. The only thing that helps me is hanging my kids baby shoes to the handlebar, to reming me, but nobody seems to understand.
I have many reasons not to, but it just happens.
Many friends call me inmature, but very few understand. Do you ?

Default I understand!

Johnny,

I get it! I continually find the urge to wheelie my 748. I'm not very good at it though. I too have responsibilities that should take precident over these desires! 2 kids and a business. But the local squids make it look soooo easy. Wish there was an abandond airport around where I could really experiment. Me and my kids are getting into BMX racing. Went to a clinic the other day and tried to learn to "manual" . Busted my a**! Big strawberries on both elbows. Big gash in my helmet. But the desire is too great. I know that the asphalt would be much worse as would the repair bill on the 748. It's a sickness Johnny. I understand!

Thanks for your kind words ZEN.
Man, when I was a kid ( I`m 45 now ), my dad had a bike, when I told him I wanted one, he sold his, and never allowed me to have one. Well, I always did. I got my first real bike at around 10, it was a Suzuki RT-100, with dual trany ( Many cars washed and many yards mowed ). I kept it at a friends house until my dad fired me out of the house for all this ( and other things, not real bad ). I think I have riden bikes almost every day of my life since, no kiding.
My dad kept me away from them, I`m adicted to them.
I, later raised my own kids around bikes, from PW`s to KX`s, we have had the greatest times anybody could ever had. Every time we went riding, I even simulated falling because the kids ( 2 ) loved to see me falling and getting dirty, they still say "the ride-day is not over until dad hits the dirt". And guess what, they are not adicted to bikes, they ride them, they love them, but they are normal kids. They like girls and Playstation and having fun. Sometimes their KX`s sit for weeks, and I have to ask them to ride with me.
I respect you for hanging with your kids, for riding with your kids, they will respect you and love you forever.
And to learn to wheelie, you need a dirt bike first...

Default You nailed it!

Johnny,

As a kid my parents were the same. No motorcycles, no way. I wanted a bike so bad I could taste it. I remember once the brand new McDonalds in town was having a drawing for a yamaha dirt bike. Must have been that days equivalent of the pw50. I remember getting a whole stack full of registration forms and taking them back to my room and secretly filling them out, then stuffing the box the next time my mom took me to McDonalds. I waited and waited for the call. The next time she took me the drawing had happened and the bike was gone. Later my uncle handed down a Rupp mini bike with a 3.5hp B&S engine and amazingly enough they let me keep it for awhile. When I went to college they let me have a Yamaha 125 scooter, but forbade me from having a "real bike" as long as they were supporting me financially. Now I too am addicted. I have bought my kids a crf50 and they seem, as yours, to have a healthy appreciation for bikes but not an addiction as ours. Guess the old adage that kids want what you try to keep from them holds true.

Great hearing your story brother! Have fun with those kids and good luck with your wheelies!!!

Jeff

Kids are great...spoil them with attention and cools toys that you always wished you could have had. I don't see a problem with it. I got my first dirt bike at 5..it was an 83 xr 50...I rode that bike everyday. I couldn't imagine a day with out owning a motorcycle...I have only been on the street for a couple of years now...I don't want to live in a world with out motorcycles. Dirt bikes are great for the entire family...camping, riding and nothing but good times. I don't know how my mom was so calm and encouraging through out the years...I can't imagine I would be as easy going with my kids on bikes...I feel like I got away with something huge.
