Default ti parts

i was talking to a coworker last night and both he and i are tired of our jobs. so we were thinking of opening a small machine shop and making ti parts and anything else that you guys would like to see machined. just wanted to see what kind of demand there would be and what parts you guys would be interested in. any list of what you would want would be appreciated. i'm going to post this on some other forums i frequent and if there's a big enough demand we will get the ball rolling.

Default Jumping out there!

My

One of the coolest things I have done in my life was going into business for myself. I am a home builder and worked for a large production company for about a decade. On January 20, 1999, I started my own company. I have a passion for architecture, design, and building and now when I exercise that passion, I am rewarded rather than having most of the rewards go to stock holders. It also allows me incredible freedom. I have gotten to spend alot of time watching my kids, 11 & 9, grow up because of the flexibility I have.

The flip side is, there is no safety net. You are on your on. It can be stressful...very stessful...but I wouldn't trade it. I know that is not what you asked in this thread but thought you may be interested in those thoughts.

Parts:
Clutch covers are a must. Ducati guys love clutch covers.
Sprocket covers
Fork adjusters
Reservoir Covers
Just some ideas. These are all things that are somewhat simple and anyone can install to add some ti-bling to their bike. With these parts it will be necessary to have a cool logo that identifies them as titanium. I believe that alot of what is added to Ducati's is bling. I find that many Ducati riders are successful in their chosen field and pick Ducati because of the style that comes along with the brand. Make some parts that anyone can install that are realatively easy to produce. Will these parts really impact the performance of the bikes? Hell no! but that misses the point of these suggestions in my opinion. I have seen many NCR titanium cluth covers at Ducati Days. Why would someone purchase a 275.00 cover of titanium for their bike? To make it lighter? To make them faster? To improve their bikes performance? No no no! Because it is easy to install exotic bling and when your finished polishing your bike and your surfing the net and you find something that is well made, that can be seen without taking the farings off, and has a cool logo, it's kind of fun to put it in your shopping cart, and wait over the next few days for the UPS truck to drop it off on you door step.

I envy the true mechanics on this board and I am sure that some of them may find this answer shallow, but listen because I bet you NCR sells more of those clutch covers than anything else.

Good luck brother!!

I've been a self-employd Artist/Craftsman for about 35 years. I work from eight in the morning until eight at night, seven days a week so I don't have to work from nine to five!!

I'd have to agree with that list and maybe say footpegs? Not sure they need to be in Ti though. Hope the business goes well. I'd love to have at least one part that's Ti.

Regards,

Jeff

I love ti parts, when I can afford them. I buy a few bolts at a time and retro out the stock junk. My suggestion is bolts and nuts, the ones you can see first! Good luck
