Not trying to be confrontational here folks, but i really don't get this. Why is it that people ask so much for stock duc rims? Ok, i know March. makes a lot of them. However, they aren't superlight or anything out of the ordinary for OEM parts. Is there something i am missing that makes these rims far and away better than any other rims?
I'm talking about OEM rims and not their aftermarket line. Here is a case and point. 5 spoke rims found on the sssa set ups. I see people wanting 1000+ for a set of stock rims??? The same can be said about the 749/999 as well, and these actually weigh more than a lot of OEM Jap rims. And these are used rims for crying out loud....What gives?
Can someone explain to me what makes stock duc rims so much better than any other OEM rim that warrants such a price tag?
i only paid 200 per 5 spoke w/good tires...look around..and as for weight the rear rim(single sided swing arm) has to withstand alot of torsion so you cant skimp on matereal....or you get lots of flex at least thats how it was explained to me...im no engineer
Ebay is your friend!....I got the rear from a guy on this site and the front from Ebay. I checked my paypal history and I paid $150.00 each. So they are out there and not too pricey.
Its the same for people who are trying to get $900+ for a 748/9** SSS. We all know what to pay, but some out there think that near retail is what they should expect to get.

Not even that...the 749/999 rims are insane as well. There are a couple sets on ebay right now for 800+ Not to mention they are even heavier than the old sp1 RC51 rims.
The thing is i see the same sellers putting up the same exact rims over and over. Its like nobody buy them yet they keep trying to sell them for those prices. Its the weirdest thing to me???
The funny part is that the 3-spoker Brembo rear is nearly the same weight as the 5-spoker, and one can pick them up for $50 - $75 on fleabay. Great for trackday wheels. The difference in tire weights alone can just about offset the wheel weight difference.
The front 3-spoker is a bit heavier than the 5-spoker, but I personally think too many guys fixate on this when they're not yet able to extract the max from their bikes anyway. Spend the bucks on tires, trackdays and schools!!!

I merely need to find a 5 spoke rear for asthetic purposes.
Which is why they typically go for pretty high prices....everyone would like to have the five-spoke wheels....usually for purely asthetic purposes.
I'd love to have a set of 5-spokes, but I sure don't want to spend the money, so....I currently have two sets of 3-spokes and the second set was $305 shipped to my door with new tires that still had the nubs on them. It was like buying a set of mounted and balanced tires and getting rims for free.
