I would imagine that Pegram would be given a chance with the FX program, as he has good sponsorship, and runs a good program.

I like it! The black frame is cool with the white fairing. Unsure where they would have shaved some weight unless their using the 1098s wheels on it? Cool bike though

They did not repeat mistakes of the past. It is not a 1098 de-stroked or bored down. It is a completely new motor using the same technology of the 1098. This is where most of the weight savings is from.
Bipisto only. Standard wheels, not S model. This is the only model available, no S and no R. Good start though.

What ? Ducati hasn't built a completely new motor since 1985. Where does stuff like this come from?

Default Clutch covers?

Does anybody else notice a difference in the two pictures?

I expect a lighter crank, piston set and flywheel. Would account for some of the weight savings. I'm not sure, but that wet clutch might be a tad lighter than the dry used on the 1098.

I imagine they come in the crate just like they do with a 1098. It's just that no one puts them on.

What I meant to say is its not a 1098 motor with smaller pistons or a different crank, it is it's own unique motor. At least thats what the ducati spokesperson said at the dealer meeting. Then again, he probably has no idea.

I can tell you there is not a picture of the real 848 in this thread - and I am certain as I have seen the 848 and know the specs... close though.

Carry on fantasizing though!

OH and before you cry foul - let me point out that the first 3 images are obviously a bad photoshop job of a 1098 made right after the color info was leaked. Notice the dry clutch? A little later the info was leaked about a wet clutch - which the next set of images have a wet clutch from a monster 800 or similar photoshopped on to the first images - note the very poor shadowing where the bodywork overlaps the clutch.

Okay, that is all.

The REAL one I saw had the same fork as a base 1098 and the same wheels. The front brakes are the exact setup on the standard Hyper Motoard. Should work out well. It also had a Showa shock.
Anything can change though.....

Read two posts above yours and you'll have the answer why.
