Default Motor customization

Has anybody put 916 heads on a 996? I know that it has been and can be done but looking for further incite.

Has anybody put a 1000DS crank in a 916/996? (already have the crank)

Looking at potential winter projects.

I haven't done any of the combos you're asking about, but I sure would like to beg, borrow, buy, or steal that crank.

The head bolts on a 996 are a different spacing than the 916/748. You would need offset head bolts to complete the project.
I'm sure someone has done it.

Hi Norm-we can probably work something out depending on if I decide to split some cases this winter.

I am almost sure that BJO.RN was installing 955 corsa heads on his sps a few years ago but it will need some machining.

If you install a 1000ds crank it might be tight with the conrods to the timing shaft and also to the bottom of the crank case depending what rods you are running.

Here are some pictures of my 984 (68mm crank) with carrillo rods and the clearance issue that I had. It is on the botom of the page.

Jocke........
