Default 3M protective adhesive question

I know this has been discussed before so let me apologize ahead of time.

Can anyone here tell me where I can get some decent clear plastic adhesive for the sides of my gas tank? I don't need the "whole kit" for the bike. I just need a sheet or two. I got some new riding pants and have a feeling they are going to scratch the sides of the tank. I know there are different brands etc., but want some good stuff that you wont really notice and still be durable. Any help would be appreciated.

eBay. I bought a bunch for my truck for $50. More than enough really, but some always goes to waste, so order a shade more than you think you need.

Thanks guys. I will try Ace Hardware. Do they sell it in a package or is it bulk? I am thinking only 2 feet or 2 sheets of 8 1/2x11 would be fine. If I can't find it at Ace, I will let you know and may take you up on your offer!

These people sell the 3M brand by the sheet (call them) or pre-cut for your tank for about $15 per kit. They sell two types: heavier with adhesive or lighter without adhesive. I use the non-adhesive stuff on my tank sides and it works great.

I purchased mine from Pacific Auto Trim (same as the links posted above) almost 2-years ago and the stuff still looks great. Great product and Pacific Auto Trim has great customer service

Thanks guys! Just ordered it through tankslapper. Anyone have any advice for the install, other than what is listed on the website? Any tricks, do's or don'ts?

At first, it will seem frustrating and impossible, but patiently keep after it, and suddenly it will start to work. Keep it really wet, and when it's done you'll be amazed.

as for applications ,,, waste a lot of paper making a template , for both sides then transfer to the film , clean the surface and your hands ( try not to touch it ) start at one side then work across , work on the small air bubbles as you go ( an old credit card works just fine ) ..
