Default How much do you..................

work?

I am asking this because I would like to work more, but I just poop out and can't do anymore. I usualy work from 6am-8pm. But the funny thing is at 8pm I don't feel tired, and I want to work more, but my brain is mush.

Am I just a wuss? Or is this perfectly normal and I should just give in to my mushy brain and start again the next day?

Jason

There is more to life than work. having said that I guess you have to define work. You are an independent business man whose work is also his passion so putting in a 14 hour day can be a pleasurable experience. I think the enjoyment factor is a function of stress and reward. High stress with little reward isn't enjoyable and those 14 hour days are not fullfilling. I work from 6:00am to 5-5:30pm Thats enough. But I would rather be riding

As little as possible, -still workin on those variations.

That brings up the age old question. Do you work to live or live to work?
In your case, your work and passion are one and the same. Not many people can boast that.

i've noticed something that might be helpful...

in architecture undergraduate school it used to be a badge of honor to try to work as many hours straight as possible, to get as much done as possible. Guys would routinely do 40 hours awake straight -50hours or more, and then crash after it was all done.

i've worked for a few years and been in graduate school now for a year and a half, and i've stopped trying the endless hours but instead, rest when i'm tired and plan my time better. i can get more done in two twelve hour days than i can in one 40 hour stretch non stop. the body just doesn't want to work effectively after a certain point. you make mistakes and spend more time cleaning up these errors. Your brain turning to mush isn't something to fight it's doing so for a reason.

bout 50-60 hrs, plus 10 hours commuting time so my day is about 4:30 to 7:00. brain is mush by noon if i'm in front of the computer. if i'm working a launch and running around a plant for 14 hours a day its actually easier because of the variety.

Between riding, bars, strip clubs, skateboarding and the occasional surf....my day is packed already...I don't have time for work!

With that said I work 10-12 hours a day 5-6 days a week. Thankfully I make my own schedule so I am up early and to bed late with a good amount of F-ing off in between. I always get people wondering if I sleep because of the strange hours. Somedays I will get up at 4:00am and return emails...but i get a nap around noon. I love my schedule. I couldn't do the 9-5 thing I would snap in a hail of gunfire....

You need to get the appropriately pierced 19YO female(s) running an espresso stand in that new shop of yours - that way you'll always be busy, one way or the other...

Well, I for one think you are probably just a wussy. I am a CPA and at this time of year, anyone crying about working too many hours has to take a back seat to me. 60 hours? Sounds like part-time to me!

Honestly though, I feel your pain. At the end of a week my body says go but my mind just wants to veg in front of the tube. At 11, when I drag myself away from my desk I certainly have the ambition to say and get more work done but I know from experience my performace the next day suffers and that is good for noone.

Honestly though for my day job it's about 50 hrs per week, then I've got freelance stuff, DOC stuff, and stuff that I'm doing for free for friends. So it's a pretty jam packed week.

I can't complain workin' for the gov't/USAF as a civilian, engineer. Very manageable hours.

In my previous life teaching physics and math at a private/prep boarding school, my day started at 7am and ended around midnight, 6 (sometimes 7) days a week. That was truly exhausting. I feel like I'm on vacation now, and earning more money to boot.
