Are you using a clutch holding tool?

So I am taking out the clutch in my 748. I see that a tool is suggested, but I'd rather not buy it so I stick a file in there and of course it breaks part of my clutch drum. Any how do you guys use the ducati tool, or another and where can I get one? Also if anybody has a clutch drum for sale on the cheap, let me know.

Alright guys thanks, it looks like that is what I need to get.

This works great, and the handle is long so you can use the footpeg bracket for leverage. You could make your own if you have some old clutch spacer rings and are a decent welder.

I made one that looks like the one that Jeff is showing. 5-6 used plates & some steel bar. Did you break the basket or the hub? I assume you mean the hub.

yeah it's the hub, although the workshop manual I have calls it a clutch drum? I ordered the one from chris kelly. The one from nichols is a bit $$ for me and I don't have a welder yet so I can't make my own

I just used an old spanner wrench from a track bike I had, drilled some holes in some plates and bolted things together. It works great.

There ya go!!! My father-in-law made a tool out of aluminum that worked OK (similar to the vice grip tool) but it took both of us to get the torque set on the drum/hub after I replaced mine. We also used the rearset as a stop to get the final torque. Thing is it took both of us to keep the tool on the drum..

I like the one you made Mental. Man.. that's cool. I think I have some spare bike tools like that I could use. Nice execution!
