texas WAS its own country "The Republic of Texas" from 1836 when it seperated from mexico until it became the 28th state in 1845.

All this talk about Texas reminds me of a bumper sticker that I saw while back in NYC last week for X-Mas. Maybe you've seen it,"There's a village in Texas whose missing its idiot."
