clutch problem on my 748(slipping?)

The other day I had to change the clutch lever on my 748 everything went fine. I took out the bolt then took out the little one and saw that i could see 4 threads so i put the new lever on and made sure it was the same setting. So i took the bike out today and noticed it catches very high and when i get up to about 70mph its slipping the rpms go nuts. So i moved the knob on the clutch lever to 2 and that seemed better it caught alot lower however now i'm not sure if the clutch is engaged since its at a lower setting. The bike always seemed fine it just turned 2000mi on it and i'm kind of new to this let me know if you think i should possibly change the screw so its out or in more or if the clutch is pretty much toasted.

Check the simple stuff first. When you put the lever pivot bolt back in place, tighten it down until it just stops. If you over tighten it you will pinch the lever and it may not be releasing completely. The nylock nut on the bottom will keep the pivot bolt from backing out.

Go check that and see if it solves the problem. I've gotta' run or I'd type more stuff.

OK I took the bike back out I loosened teh bolt that mental998 said to which is the black arrow if you look at the picture. I found the right setting on the lever which i'm comfortable with but i still feel it slipping so i'm wondering if i should either screw that bolt in more or release it more. If the clutch is slipping then i'm assuming i should screw it in more? any ideas also i'm going out to check the fluid

Great pic to help solve your prob. You get an A+ for the day.

We now know the lever is doing what it should.

You might need to screw the “red� screw in more to allow it to pull further out from the master cylinder piston. That will allow the fluid to flow back into the reservoir and the clutch can “self adjust�.

There is a tiny allen screw on that thing that you need to loosen before you try and turn it in.

Try that.

is there any way you could email me that pic? I am having the EXACT same problam and it is driving me nuts!!! I was thinking bad tranny cause i replaced the plate stack. I tried to look at it but it is no longer there. Thank you SOOOO much in advance!!
