Ron Paul makes too much sense to be a Republican.

I'd like to retract this statement.
The more I hear about Ron Paul the crazier he seems. Some things he gets right and on some things he's absolutely whacked.

Limbaugh could've told you that months ago. But you'd rather get your views from dailykos , msnbc and the likes...

Just remember that any kooky ideas Paul has must be passed through Congress unless it was a Presidential Order. But Paul would have to be careful of doing many of those legally, because both sides would love to then turn around and impeach him for an illegal order.

I personally would rather have someone principled whom I disagree with on some things rather than just another guy beholden to the banking elite and Wall Street. This is IMO why Romney cannot get more than 25% support and each other candidate is taking turns being the alternative to Romney. Santorum is getting his turn this week. Paul remains the anti-vote for the establishment.

Today's The Age newspaper here in Melbourne, Australia has a pic of Ron Paul, alongside a pic of Romney. Paul's campaign must be making some ground.

Sorry, can't vote for him.

Abortion|Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign Committee

"Dr. Paulís experience in science and medicine only reinforced his belief that life begins at conception, and he believes it would be inconsistent for him to champion personal liberty and a free society if he didnít also advocate respecting the God-given right to lifeófor those born and unborn."

Sorry, can't vote for him.

Health Care|Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign Committee
"He will work with Congress to:
* Repeal ObamaCare and end its unconstitutional mandate that all Americans must carry only government-approved health insurance or answer to the IRS."

Healthcare freeloaders need to get with the program. The only way they will is if they are forced to - just like auto insurance. I'd rather this wan't necessary but it is. I'm tired of paying for other people's lack of responsibility.

But he gets some things right. One of which is...

"End Birthright Citizenship – As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be granted U.S. citizenship, we’ll never be able to control our immigration problem."

He also wants to end the funding of Zionism - the smart and moral thing to do.

He's a mixed bag. Can't vote for his though because he wants to force women to have their babies. That reeks - reminds me of the Middle East. It's none of his damn business.

Paul may be opposed to abortion but other Presidents have been as well in the last 40 years and yet the status quo remains. I don't see how Paul could really affect much change in this area despite his position. Voting for someone on the basis of one item is a little short-sighted.

So vote for Romney and put another zero in the banking elites pockets. And if you don't like Mitt's position on something, just wait a bit and it will change.

No. I won't consider voting status quo republican until they get off their god kick. They didn't used to be like that. Now they are eerily similar to theocracy. Bush, Santorum, Bachmann, Perry. Did you hear Newt? He said "how could I ever trust anyone who doesn't have faith?" That is a common theme among republicans. What a bunch of biggots.
They are also the party of the rich. I don't mind the rich so much but the last thing we need is a party that kowtows to them.

Besides, Obama has decimated al Qaeda and gotten tough on illegal immigrants. I'm not exactly happy with Obama on other things but he's taking care of the important ones. If it weren't for the do-nothing Republican Congress he'd be making a lot more progress.

I hear Paul wants to gut environmental laws. So he wants to go third world. God, the guys' actually an idiot. Who woulda thunk?
Wait, Texas, Bush, Perry, Paul. Oh, makes sense now.

"Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul doesn't spend much time talking about the environment; when he does address the issue, it's usually to say that our land, air, and water would be in better shape if the government butted out and let the free-market, private-property system run its course."

Personally, I've seen enough of the free market to know it doesn't self-regulate. Total bull, that is.

I call bullshit. You've never seen a free market.

There is no perfect candidate. So you have to decide what our most important issues are, and then see who has the best positions on the important stuff. I think America is doomed because of excessive spending and out-of-control debt. Combined with The Fed's behavior, I'm concerned about what happens to our Republic when the dollar collapses. I'm more concerned about that than I am about Iran's Nukes or any upcoming terrorist attacks. So Ron Paul is my man. Even if he's elected, he can't actually pull ALL of our troops back home at once on his own, but it is nice to have somebody steering the debate toward the important issues. We can't afford to police the world and we can't afford to be a welfare state (well, we might be able to do either one alone, but no both). Something has to change, and the change has to be drastic.

Herb Stein's Law: "If something cannot go on forever, it will stop." We can't keep spending money we don't have forever. It will stop one way or another...

Obviously you're not a golfer.

i often wonder why the people of the united states are so willing to compromise their own well being for the flexing of their military might internationally.

shouldn't the people come first?
