I wonder if Obama will have his health bill passed in time for the State of the Union, now that Senator Brown, Ma. (R) is around?

Word on the television is that Obama will stil push for the health care vote to be passed as soon as possible or risk loosing it. This is despite the dire political consequences that the individual Democratic Senators will suffer as a result of this.
We'll see what happens and how politically brave these folks are after seeing how well Obama has done in his recent support of candidates seeking election in VA, NJ and now MA....reverse Midas Touch seems to be in effect.

The Best System (maybe)...if you can afford it.

Lack of health care killed 2,266 US veterans last year: study | Physicians for a National Health Program

This is someone doing something that requires bravery.. with re-election coming in as second choice in the situation... at least you understand the element of political bravery required.... not quite like the swiftboating approach that right wing central seems to relish and perfect...

We certainly dont see any bravery with top republicans stepping up, and into Obama's open ended, speak your mind, tell us your whining, bitching, wanker ideas...'health-care trap' lol OMG weasels...

Here's the other side of the coin that you idiots ignore.

Lower costs lure U.S. patients abroad for treatment - CNN.com

So what's more significant, one millionaire coming to America or 6 million Americans going elsewhere in ONE year? Let's hear how you defend this totally phucked up system.

"They [U.S. hospitals] told me it would be about $175,000, and there was just no way could I come up with that,"

Best system, my ass!

No complaints here. I had $200,000 worth of surgery 4 years ago, cost me about $2,500 out of pocket, but then again, I PAY FOR MY INSURANCE, I DO NOT EXPECT THE GOVT. TO PROVIDE IT. (you get what you pay for, what a concept!)

IMO it is just impossible for a nation to have everyone employed in positions that can provide good health care to all. It's not a matter of anyone working harder or smarter. There will never ever be a high quality job for every single American who wants one, even if they put forth the effort. Plus, just think of the added cost to business if every single employee had good coverage. Business cannot shoulder the burden of covering health costs like you incurred for every single Amercan. Personally, I don't think business should have to provide any health care for employees. Talk about a burden on business growth, geez! Are we pro-growth or not?

Health care and health insurance should be not-for-profit. It is the one thing in a civilized society that screams non-profit, IMO. And don't tell me non-profit won't work. It works in many different fields. The system we have now is simply something designed to enrich providers at the expense of citizens. As this population ages the transfer of wealth will destroy so much of America. There's a tsunami coming and we better make big changes soon to prepare for it.

How do you like yer new boobs?

Dont forget, you've now a 'pre existing' condition. Imagine a relapse, re-occurrence, or new case of whatever and being told you're not covered. Just because it hasnt happened to you doesnt mean it cant. You may have the cash in hand to score another insurance deal like the one you had but they may tell you to go to Mexico with your paltry pesos...

Sounds like something worth fixing...

Actually pothead, what's more significant is that here we have a typical left-leaning social-engineering Canuck politico type who preaches this crap to his own minions (like goggy) , who swallow it, but when it comes to him waiting in line for a death panel bureaucrat to approve the procedure for him...FORGET IT !
Hypocrites all.

At least for now, if you get your way, we'll lose that too.

Gee, your calling me a dumbass has hurt my feelings, Frank.

I'm not argueing that we have some of the best at the upper end, THE best in many areas. But it's the cost, the inneficiency, and the unaffordability that is the problem. Come on, you must see that. It's like you worship this system because of the wow factor. In the real world, wow only helps a very limited number of people while a growing number are left out in the cold. Look at the numbers - the costs for various proceedures. There is no way in hell that those exorbitant costs seem justified. It's quite easy to run up a half-million dollars in medical bills these days. It reeks of the G-word - gouging. Compare the costs of drugs here to those in Canada - the pharmas take us for suckers because we are.

Then there's tort reform. That doesn't address the majority of the cost problem but it definitely needs to be part of the solution. Everyone needs to come together on this because we are dying a thousand cuts and it's gonna get a lot worse soon. Very few people understand that health costs in this aging population are the number one threat to this countries future solvency.

I don't know why you're worried about losing the wow factor. I don't see why we can't have both the wow AND affordability for regular old health care. Your irrational fear is part of what's killing us financially, IMO. It just helps continue the enabling of everything that is wrong.

Urea? Funny.
Don't be so mad. You sound like you could blow a gasket, ya whack job.

Ok. so that was a hyperbolic statement. Are you saying that Canada's system is better than ours ?

If so, why come to USA for treatment ?
Well, anyways, from his own mouth came this:
"I did not sign away my right to get the best possible health care for myself when I entered politics."

That's right. He didnt sign away HIS right, just yours, my canuck friend

He came to the U.S. because this one doctor does the armpit proceedure and has done hundreds of them. Bravo for him. And what percentage of the population needs this proceedure? What percentage of patients can afford to have it done here? It's a real nifty proceedure but the net value to society is questionable. I don't have the necessary information to answer those and other questions and I'm pretty sure you don't either . Does that mean your post is more hyperbole?

Don't forget the golden rule...Socialism is not for the Socialist, just everyone else. Find me a successful Left Leaning Entertainment figure or DemocRAT that will allow themselves to participate in the system that they advocate for that that will be something...probably never happen. Just remember that the asshole politicians exempted themselves from having to participate from the very program they want us to be a part of.
Also keep in mind that 40+ percent of US citizens do not pay income taxes. The proposed sysyem of government run health care is unsustainable. Obama's fantasy proposal is so short on details that the CBO cannot even provide a cost evaluation for the plan.

1. Those people don't participate because they have no need to. They have the power and wealth to pay for anything they need. The vast majority of Americans are not in the same class. Like coRky said, the people with the gold make the rules. The decision by members of the elite to not participate has nothing to do with them being socialists or capitalists or anything else. So your arguement is a false one.

2. The proposed system is unsustainable if costs are not brought down to realistic levels. That is the root of the problem. We are getting ripped off because health and insurance companies have lobbyists and we do not. Our reps no longer work for us. They work for business and themselves.

3. How is it government run? That is more hyperbole. There never has been a proposal to make health care government run, as much as you wish it had been. I swear, do you morons get all your talking points from Sarah Palin?"Government run" is the equivalent of "death panels". Both are lies.
