I used to say the same thing, listen to some of the more current artists, it's not so bad.

Country peaked with Kenny Rogers' The Gambler. No question in my mind.

Don't forget Conway Twitty either. Lay You Down is such a classic. I remember a duet with him and Loretta Lynn where they argue back an forth in a song titled "You're the Reason Our Kids Are Ugly"

I knew the economic mess would inspire a few songs about the flag, apple pie, pick up trucks, the union hall, the hard working man, and the greedy fat cats - LOL

a quick google turned up some winners

"Getting pretty tired of these guys walking around in cowboy hats and cowboy boots. You ever see these jack-offs? Can't we kill some of these mother****ers? Walking around in a ****ing cowboy hat. Grown men. It's not even Halloween for chrissakes! I say: 'Hey Tex, grow up and get yourself a wardrobe consistent with the century you're living in.' Why do certain men feel the need to dress up as mythic figures? You don't see anyone walking around in a pirate costume, do you? When was the last guy you ran into who had on a viking outfit? Make-believe cowboys. Closest they ever got to a cow was when they stopped to take a piss at an Arby's."

FLUFF??? Cmon now! If I had to guess Id say you're an 'older' gentlemen???

Listen to some Toby Keith, BignRich, Tim McGraw, Josh Turner, Rascal Flatts........mind you, I dont like all their music but they each have some really good stuff. I wont even get into some of the female vocalists......yummy......nothing like some wholesome fine looking babes with a nice voice to go with their looks.....

I'm just the opposite (no wonder, huh?). I like the old country, real country, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, George Strait, Clint Black. Can't stand this bastardised form of Rock, otherwise now known as country. They've gone and polluted rock music with this popish psuedo-rock stuff that has little resemblance to country music. It's another sad trend, along with hip-hop.
