A Simple Question.....

I'm sure by now you have all seen the video's of;

A) A BART transit officer shooting a young black man who was on his face, on the floor held down by two fello BART officers. (the man had been involved in a New Years Eve fight onboard a train with several others) The man died from the gunshot which was videoed by several civilians and broadcast on national TV.

B) The ongoing riots in Oakland (burning not only police cars, but ANY car on the streets, as well as local business' and homes) in response to the fatal shooting of the man.

My question is this; If it happened to be a young, let's say.....Japaneese man, would there still be cars burning....or say a white man in Beverly Hills was shot by a black police officer, would buildings burn? Just wondering.....

Do you ever listen to KPFA (94.1 fm), out or Berzerkely? I very rarely do but just happened to hear the BART public meeting that they had the other day. It was yet more evidence that:

The people in Oakland (probably not most of them) are dim-wits and drunks. It was like listening to a movie soundtrack for a Mad Magazine movie. I'm sure those folds have lots of valid grievances but God, how can anyone take them seriously. One of them said "ya know wut I'm talkin' 'bout" more than they said anything else. There were people yelling murderer from the audience. It was a modern-day linch mob. They think no clearer than the fools who used to hang blacks from trees. One of them kept going on about how the black folks "ONLY" problems were with white people. Well, newsflash! There have been more blacks killed by blacks in this country than by whites. There have been more blacks enslaved by blacks worldwide than by whites. Blacks and browns have never got along. If the people that I heard on the radio are any indication, it is no wonder that they go around destroying the businesses in their own town or that they don't know history, or that they just plain are hopeless losers. Man, I'm glad I don't work for BART or the city of Oakland. Imagine having to deal with these turds every day.

By the way, I haven't seen the video. It sounds like an accidental discharge. The guy will probably face manslaughter, or maybe even a lesser count of murder.

I was thinking the same thing (scary huh?) You never hear the SAME people crying out that Oakland is the 3rd most dangerous city in America, or that black vs black violence was responsible for close to 200 murders last year in Oakland alone...........Easier to blame "The Man" for all your ills.

I think you both make a factual point. The problem is that people are far too quick to focus on the few and minor differences between them and ignore the huge similarities among them. Color being the stupidest and least worthy on the scale, but the one that the stupidest in our population jump to the fastest ...

It often seems that way but in fact the world is a much better place now than almost any time in the past and it will get better (I hope). I don' think any whites want to go back to the dark ages. I don't think any blacks want to go back to the 1930's. American Indians now have their casinos. Soviet gulags are gone (mostly). A Hitler probably wouldn't stand a chance of getting as far as he did. There are tons of examples. We just need to keep working on the problems. We need more Bill Gates' and fewer Vladimir Putin's. More Martin Luther Kings and fewer Pat Robertson's, More Costa Rica's and fewer Israels .

I agree that its more than likely it was an accidental discharge. The cop has since resigned and will probably face criminal charges for a negligent homicide or reckless endangerment. His career in law enforcement is over.
The family will get a huge wrongful death settlement from the city and BART.

Looks like he grabbed and discharged his sidearm instead of a taser. We'll see.
