This will come across as pretty radical as it attacks our fundamental system but, even though I don't fully agree with it, this article does indeed strike a chord with me. Also, I really enjoy anything that can give me a fresh perspective on things. FYI, the Mises Institute has a philosophy of hard-core Libertarianism, to the point of free-market anarchism for many members and minarchism for others (Ron Paul, for example, would be a minarchist).
I like the quote they took from Jesse Ventura on our current two-party system:
Quote:
In pro wrestling, out in front of the people, we make it look like we all hate each other and want to beat the crap out of each other, and that's how we get your money, [and get you to] come down and buy tickets. They're the same thing. Out in front of the public and the cameras, they hate each other, are going to beat the crap out of each other, but behind the scenes they're all going to dinner, cutting deals. And [they're] doing what we did, too — laughing all the way to the bank. And that to me is what you have today, in today's political world, with these two parties.

I think that is true of the top 3%. The middle class, left and right, really does start to hate each other when they become LESS middle class.
I voted for Jesse and if he ran for president I would Stump for him!!!
If you look at the state by state results for senate, Minnesota is the only state that must really want change when an Independence party candidate gets 15% of the vote, no other state comes any near as close as that!

Hey Mashuri, thanks for that post. I have often thought that the electoral college system of presidential election is obviously different from, and actually better than democracy. But I hadn't considered the love of democracy as a perverse worship of a thing we don't actually have. That's one to think about.

Thanks for the post, it was very enlightening as I used to think you were foolish, now I'm convinced you're a ****in' idiot. If there's one thing good to come out of this election, it's that hopefully it will shut jessie (puke, gag!) jackson the hell up. That turd has made his "living" by exploiting blacks and shaking down corparations his entire life. I wouldn't trust that piece of shit to wipe my dogs ass.

Uh, Rocky -- you DO realize the Jesse being mentioned is Jesse Ventura, right?? Dude, put down the Budweiser and slowly back away....
I actually thought (for a change!) he was speaking of J.J. (he's only 'bout half as stupid as the other!) I stand by my assesment of the auther though!

You might find you two agree on a lot more than you think. There are usually just misunderstandings about some fundamental basics that get in the way. Damn, I sound like a freakin' psychologist now...
Hey rocky do you cut your hair with a bowl on top or what???? I ask for reform and you spew more rhetoric crap, how long until you empty your bowels of hate???

Does that mean another Kennedy? I'll be half expecting that every time I see Obama in public. You know, from one of the "patriotic" types.
