I've been wondering about why Americans like Rocky and many others, far and wide, seem unable to understand reality, and are disconnected from clear-thinking and common-sense.

I don't even have to watch your video, Kiwi, to know what it's about. Right wing radio in America is a sick, sad statement about the psyche of the right. I listen to them sometimes, just to stay informed, and I always come away with the same conclusions. That segment of society thrives on confrontation, threats, demonization, fear, and any bogey man that stirs up a self-defense response, whether they be real or imagined. It is just non-stop whining and complaining about how victimized conservatives are in todays society.

Not that (suprisingly) I don't agree there's some whack jobs on "right wing radio", but to ignore the failed project that is (was) "Air America" surely was just an oversight on your part. Hosts claiming that Israel actually masterminded the 9-11 attacks, that Bush and co. dynamited the levys in New Orleans, etc., THATS not the same?!?! (I guess when "progressives" do it they get a pass on the radio, JUST LIKE ON TV?)

So you would be for the restoration of the "fairness doctrine" , correct ?
Who gets to decide what is "fair" ? You ? If "left-wing" radio had anything to offer it's listeners, it would be a success. However, it's a TOTAL failure.
Most it is ad hominem attacks on the right.

The "fairness doctrine" is like giving the middle finger to the #1 freedom we have. Freeness of speech. Or rather, congress shall make no law prohibiting political speech. If a corporation wants to limit the speech of an employee it is NOT covered by this ammendment. Only government is specified. Seems real simple to me.

The only thing that, frankly, worried the heck out of me was the hate. The raw, exposed, caricatured hate from the jocks like O'Reilly, Limbo and the others, like Savage (now HE was a doozy !) and the fact that they're on a serious persuasion trip that some people who don't have the benefit of a good education and a critical, open mind may end up being suckered into accepting everything they say as some kind of gospel.

Jonestown happened like this, and there is some serious cult-like brainwashing going down in the sinister waves of Right-wing talk radio.

In France we have free expression, and no real limit on what you can say, except that you HAVE to be able to back it up, and outright hate speech is heavily penalized.
We don't tolerate Holocaust deniers, nor do we tolerate anti-semite, islamophobic or racist crap. People are still able to speak their minds, but they better be prepared to back it up.

No, the reasons "air America" failed is capitalisim 101;
A) Supply and demand (99% of tv and hollywierd media has a leftist bias, so the market is oversaturated)

B) "Lefties" typically are living on the margins of the economy siphoning off dollars thru welfare, un-employment and other "entitlement" programs funded thru GAINFULLY EMPLOYED citizens taxes, but not spending their meager proceeds on the goods and services that advertisers push on these programs, leading to a pull out of ad dollars, and the tanking of "progressive" radio......

I think the #1 "freedom" any man should champion is to tell the truth. Without this being the apex, what follows are just words. Think of it in terms of which came first, the economy or the ecology? If you dont put ecology first then you have your yappy, shallow, empty words to console you in your unhealthy world....
