OMG OF sounds like such an ass. Bet he went home and had a few beers to celebrate his 'accomplishments'. I wonder if he was drug tested for alcohol when he has made his mistakes over his long, illustrious career.... oh wait he never makes mistakes!

So drinking beer is illegal on his own time at home? And has he ever come to work buzzed and had an accident that had potential of costing his employers a lot of money? I doubt it...but smoking is illegal, like it or not. And to come to work buzzed isn't exactly a good thing to do. Glad you have the intelligence to understand all of that Gog, hope I don't have to explain it again.

Another interesting article about this debacle. The only thing missing from the liberal kooks is the link/tie to big bad Bush being involved in this somehow.

Frankly , what would be the point of citing articles or studies since it's actually quite easy to simply question and not accept such info as both sides usually do , especially regarding the counting of bears which is not a strictly scientific enterprise (contrary to popular belief) ? And yes , I am well aware of the latest counts which indicate that their numbers MAY be increasing . Remember that many of us here in Northern Canada have been intimately aware of serious changes to the environment for at least the past 25 years . And no , I don't care much for what Gore the Hypocrite portrayed in his docu-drama . Satellite pics indicate that northern ice has diminished by between 7 and 10 % during a few years and polar bears need this ice , therefore the logical conclusion is I think clear FOR THE LONG TERM . They are supremely adaptable/strong creatures and may be doing ok right now but the disappearance of their natural environment can't be a positive development .

agreed
I'm not a huge smoker...so it's not a passionate subject. The interference into the fredoms of a man to relax are mmy passions tho!

Is there a difference between being currently and presently buzzed and smoking the day before? YES. You want to be tested for beers on Monday mornings? That would only be fair. Is there a calcuable difference in human performance between having a beer and having a joint the day before? ....nope.

Hope I dont have to explain that to you.

nomo- I don't know many ppl who don't believe anything is going on, to the contrary, I'm sure the environment has it's warming AND cooling trends. I also believe that mother earth will do whatever the hell it wants like it has for thousands of yrs before us.
What many of us do have a problem with is two things:
1) Assuming that mankind is definitely at fault here and
2) turning this into a money making scheme for any group of ppl whether it be scientists or politicians in the form of a new tax.

And make no mistake about it, that's what Kyoto was all about with the US, footing the bill for the largest slice of the pie while our country's rivalry's were exempt, which would had put us economically even deeper in the hole than where we are now while India and China (amongst others) would have had a tremendous economical growth advantage over us.

Needless to say , this is a huge issue and problem . I'll just say that most of the (Third) world sees the US and Canada (and to a lesser extent the Euro's) as hypocrits for wanting and expecting to be on an even playing field for cutting and paying for emissions when we have been doing most of the polluting for over a century . Also , what I understand to be your side of the debate has become unfortunately synonymous with the redneck and ignorant Sarah Palins of the world , with FOX news as their advertising agency . I agree that the 'climate change' movement has become big business as so called credible universities are given millions to perpetuate slogans instead of doing creative research , but I disagree with the notion that man may not be a contributing cause of environmental problems .

I have been begging these guys to do a little inventory as to what is going up in smoke around this globe. But they are champions of "clean coal" and other absurdities. It becomes this determined denial that leads them to false bravado and arrogance. Even in the face of repeated disaster. Letting them decide environmental issues and policy is a bit like letting the failed Wall St. execs run Wall St.!!

How are we to tackle the pollution of this world? Fight through the waves of deniers first? Wade through the ignorant positions of business over health? How long did it take to stop the vermin from telling lies about cigarettes and asbestos? Too long.
We dont need further examples to teach us what happens when we ignore our environment. Republicans are just as quick to dismiss dangers of war and threats from nature. It's a long, dismal history of idiotic, narrow minded claims and solutions.

The "freedom" of man is at stake and they only have 'nay" or "gotcha" as a philosophical solution...sigh.

I've made tons of mistakes. If I hadn't Id be more successful today.
Yeah, I'm such an ass for supporting policies that apply to business in perhaps 90% of the world. And like you have gone to work with a hangover.

Look at it this way. It's a simple delineation between two worlds. Mine represents one of realism versus the dope clouded visions of idealism.

ps: A51 has your tie die shirts completed. Ring him and give him the shipping address. Last night I went to a 10th anniversary party of a friends bistro. I had two Dewars on the rocks.

Ok now, you're just show your true side in being a pompous a-hole like the rest of the liberals who are arrogant enough to think we can change what this planet does.

The bottom line is there are scientists on both sides of the fence on the topic. Your side wants to say polar bears are dying, the other side says they were dying because of the illegal pouching and are actually on the rise in population, does your side reflect that at all in their reports? No.

Does your side (scientists/schools) want more $$$$$$$$ from the government in the form of grants? Yes.

Do liberals here and from afar want new taxes imposed to generate funding for more BS? Yes.

Has some files from several research centers support your views been compromised and suggest some serious tainting or making absent of information? Yes.

Do conservative ppl want mother earth to implode? No. Nor do we want any other BS tax/fees being imposed and pissed away on other pet projects.

So you can stand there on your pedestal and 'try' to make this a make believe situation that FOX News is fabricating if you like but know this.....we get it. Every time a discussion turns to insults and accusations about FOX, we get it. You're out of data/facts/knowledge and need to turn this into another BS baby shit slinging spat. Have at it.

Oh man, that about sums up the mentality. What the planet does or what we do to it? Big difference, despite what Faux News tells you, it aint the same thing. Not even close.

Hmmm, I never thought that A-51 would be a tie-dye child. Not once did I think he was a hippe type. Shows how we differ. I think it's more like you guys have been soo wrong about soo much that it's laughable to see your guesses and suppositions.
How could you be so cocky after such a colossal failure of your political party and just about everything it has touted or touched? What would it take for a right winger to say: "Gee... I failed" or "I was wrong"? Would you have to be gasping like a fish out of water? Melting in chemicals? Burning from fusion releases? How about mutating from aberrant, compounded molecules? Oh lemme guess, just hippy dippy liberal shit huh? Maybe that "bomb your way outta every situation" mentality will see you through. There's always the preemptive rapture in Wasilla as an ace up the sleeve, back-up, plan B, gotch eternity though, I suppose.

Sry man, it's a depressing thing. Seemingly intelligent, educated, grown men acting like they are living on Krypton with endless chances to fvck up and misunderestimate the planet. Fvck man, even in baseball you're outta there after three swings and three misses.

Massive, unmatched population growth, oozing and spreading pollution and unbridled consumption with no end in sight... yet, the right says "We cannot help what the planet does"...

XFBO , your "argument" reminds me of religious zealots who believe that god runs the show and will take care of everything . Sorry to insult your poster child Sarah . I mean , did you READ my response above , or are you just dense ? (Rhetorical question ) "My side" , "liberal" ? Clearly you have no clue what my side is . Perhaps you would understand the intricacies of a debated issue if you weren't so defensive and reactionary .

The thing is, there is no Climate Change movement. It is the Global Warming movement (or religion or racket), and that's important to remember. You don't get to change the name just because you were wrong. Not in my book, anyway. You lose.

It's reasonable to assume that man has an impact on the environment, and there are a lot of men on the planet. But that doesn't give anyone the right to lie in an attempt to scare people into rolling over and giving up even more freedom and accepting more government control over their lives. It's especially pathetic that the best tactic they have is to instill this unreasonable fear in our grade-school children.

If your MMGW theories are real, keep working to prove it. Most people are reasonable and will be willing to help out when a real problem AND solution are identified. Not only have they not identified a solution, but they haven't really identified a legitimate problem! All they have done is secure plenty of funding and job security for themselves and their friends, and help some of the big government people/agendas.

The truth is that they haven't proven anything about greenhouse gases causing a temperature increase (that's why it is called a theory), there is no concensus among honest scientists that humans are responsible for any Global Warming (especially since it's getting colder at the moment), and the people who are willing to roll over and accept whatever they are told are morons.

Another person who refers to climate as weather...

It's the collective "doh" that I dont even want to hear. The right wings gasping at their obvious failure to take the environment seriously. Thank Gawd that most people shrug them off as born again science retardos.

They admit that they understand that population is spiralling out of control, increasing at a frightening rate. They agree that we are denuding, stripping and digging up, green lands and blue waters on a scale unprecedented. We are burning up the carbon, we all know it. The right wingers seem to understand that earth has finite resources and these resources are being tapped like never before towards obvious collapse. They seem to understand so much and yet, they talk as if they own what they own and everyone else can 'take a hike'.

I guess it's just too hard for them to look forward, think forward or walk forward. Just stuck in that Quaker mindset of anti science, segregation, aggression, divine arrogance and the gifts of god... I dont want men of Mennonite mentality running my world... Not in spirit or law.. even if they did follow the law or the spirit of the law...

Yeah I lose . No , the problem is that we ALL lose by the time ignorant people get off their ass and do something about the problem . The most amusing aspect of this debate is that "conservatives" become skeptical toward scientists ONLY when 1) their often wasteful way of life , and 2) their religion , are questioned . In any other facet of their lives -- from medicine to illness to bridge building to automobiles -- scientists/doctors/researchers/engineers are considered to be gods . At least be consistent for fvck sakes . This is boring , rather discuss bikes , so adios .

It's a devastating situation Nomo. Taking care used to be the prerogative of the conservative. But those conservatives are long gone. MMGW a debate that misses it's true potential because we're stuck trying to get fundamental, logical premises to rule however, we suffer the denier, the mocker, the capital 'dismisser'.

Here's an example. Science proves that cigarettes are bad for you. It's undeniable. Before that, the cig companies were just lying and cheating ,denying and misleading it's addicts and future addicts, along with is victims of the off gases . Now that it's proved to be, it's plain, simple and true and we dont see the denials but we still see the sales! Wow.

Now, we can also see a right winger parade a 90 year old smoking smoker and claim "How can it be bad for you? Just look at this man who has smoked for 80 years". They would be right to say that all those cigarettes did not kill that man. So, hold this man up high as "proof" that cigarettes dont kill. I think we can all see the false, dangerous and mistaken conclusions drawn from that scenario. So it's cold today, global warming cant be happening...

Thats kinda OK if that man wants to gamble away his health on the chance that he wont be killed by illness related to cancer. But, environmentally, they still want to apply the same odds and consequences? Take that chance for a bad habit(s)?

If "libs" are wrong whats the final result, the cost, the loss? If ding-a-lings are wrong what's the result the loss the cost? It's a no brainer.

Ciao, but to be fair, I'm not skeptical of the science. The frickin' scientists are skeptical of the science! That's the whole point! Why the rush? If they ever figure out that there is a problem, then we can start figuring out how to fix it. In the meantime, aren't there enough real problems to deal with?

Just because Al Gore's slideshow is scary doesn't mean it's true...

And what exactly are YOU doing about this GW crisis?

The most amusing aspect of this debate is that "conservatives" become skeptical toward scientists ONLY when
LOL@"conservatives"......your ignorance shines on this topic.

1) their often wasteful way of life , and
REALLY? You mean like all those "conservatives" in Hollywood?
Or the ones into racing motorcycles?

2) their religion , are questioned .
LOL, yea like the MMGW religion right? All one has to do is look at how nuts you ppl get on this topic. Face it, it IS a religion to you ppl.

In any other facet of their lives -- from medicine to illness to bridge building to automobiles -- scientists/doctors/researchers/engineers are considered to be gods . At least be consistent for fvck sakes . This is boring , rather discuss bikes , so adios .
Don't you mean scientists who agree with YOUR position?

What about the other scientists that oppose MMGW, they don't count right?

+1, HOWEVER, I dont and never have opposed the idea of educating our youth/everyone on how not to be wasteful, the whole concept of reducing our carbon footprint is ok with me BUT dont f'cking talk to me about racing costs/taxes to start funding something when 1) they dont know exactly if there's a problem and 2) how to fix it........these mf'ers will use anything for the almighty $$$$$$$$$$, enough already.
