Right off the bat, number one has issues, zero. It says the world has been warming. Yet, I've been hearing over and over from Zillacons that the world isn't warming. You guys had me convinced, not. And now your post contradicts you. I'm confused. Not nearly as confused as you and your ilk seem to be. Well, which is it? Is the earth warming or not?

I think most people believe there has been a normal warming trend, and don't believe it is the fault of man. You know, mostly because the climate just changes. That's what it does. That's what it did before mankind, and that's what it'll do after mankind.
Me, I don't believe it has been warming lately. If it was, it was not significant, and it's not now. It's cold.

Please return to your vaporizing of NorCal, Larry.
This conversation is for the grown ups.
Your desperation is tangible. If only I could bottle it and sell it.
"Gen-ee-yew-whine Denier Juice ! 100 proof, to be taken with ice or melted water, or even straight !"
I'd be as rich as Al Gore.....
This fine, informed fellow wipes the "Daily Sexpress" and it's smutty owner and his hack "journalists" faces in the 'Denier-porn-for-the-stupid' they peddle far better than I could.
"Let's debunk this list, shall we?
Many of the "reasons" are nothing more than statements that have nothing to do with proving why climate change might be natural. (#14, 17, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 47, 49, 50, 51, 55, 56, 58, 65, 72, 73, 74, 75, 77, 82, 87, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98).
"Reasons" 67 and 69 contradict each other.
"Reason" 86 can be turned around on itself to prove that CO2 concentrations cause changes in temperature.
#4 seems to contradict the article title with the simple fact that is states a "huge surge in recorded CO2 emissions" led to a 4 decade long drop in global temperatures. That is climate change. No?
#3, 4 & #5 contradict each other. #5 does not make clear whether those temperature fluctuations and CO2 levels coincided with each other. And which is it...CO2 causes cooling or warming. Pick a side.
#14...is that a reason why climate change is natural???
#12, 13, 15 and 16...OK, they are entitled to their opinions but that is all their statements are...show me the studies that back up those statements.
If reason #1 is going to state that there is "no real scientific proof" of man made climate change, then show me the "scientific proof" to the contrary.
For all the statements like #22...cite the reference. Any good paper cites its references. Where are the references to scientific studies to back up a statement like #22 or #43 or #45?
Speaking of #45..."probably"...really? Is that a scientific term? There is a solid reason for you: probably. Brilliant.
And #44...please show me the scientific evidence for this one.
#33 and 44 contradict each other...today's CO2 level is "very low compared to most of the earth’s history" but wait, there has been a "historical increase in the air’s CO2 content...during the past 150 years."
It would be nice to know the real story. Here is the deal. It won't hurt us to reduce CO2 emissions...that is a fact. However, it is unclear how maintaining or increasing current levels will impact the globe and ultimately...us humans. So, which is better the known or the unknown ? "

It's MAYBE cold where you are, huffing in the chill morning air on your porch, but it's damned hot everywhere else.
Today we went to zero ° C, from 6°C yesterday. It hasn't rained in months. A week ago we had 24°C.
Go figure. The birds are flying in circles, and even the elderly are looking dazed and confused. Well, more than usual.
Speaking of great songs, one just for the Deniers.
"Australia’s mean temperature for 2008 was slightly lower than that recorded for the previous six years, partly due to a La Niña event that developed in late 2007 and continued into early 2008. Despite the cooling effect of La Niña, Australia has now recorded a warmer-than-average year for the past seven consecutive years. In line with the rest of the globe, Australia has experienced a background warming of about 0.9°C over the last Century. On 16 December 2008, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) indicated that the global mean temperature was also warmer than normal during 2008 (about 0.31°C above average), making 2008 the globe’s 10th warmest year on record. It is now 23 years since the globe has experienced a cooler than average year."
But hey, what would they know ?They should have asked you, Baas.
I applaud you LeKiwi. Excellent job sifting through denier garbage. They just call real science garbage if it conflicts with any of the bullshite oozing from they parallel reality of Stupidville. They dont bother to read the good stuff themselves, just cut and paste from right wing, nut job, central. They dont learn one side to balance their views on the other side. Just blather lies and accusations. They will betray their own eyes, ears, noses, feelings and tastes for the party line. David Koresh had a field day with them.
Every society has a group of morons who think they are the gifted intellectuals. First thing they have to do is discredit normal, logical and smart people, even it it's only in their own group or simply themselves. Delusion is the what results. Next, they lie about what is actually happening... numbers, figures, locations, discussions etc. After that, the machine of hate, lies and repetition takes over, the manufacturing of doubt is underway. Thats is how we end up with idiots trying to teach intelligent design. The welfare bums of logic and reason.
Dont forget, drought is the new flood and cold is the new warm.
Same way they shuffle off their dumb failures with Iraq and Bush, they will dismiss their pathetic behaviour over climate denial and poor science(if you could call it that). Makes one wonder what it will take before they crack. What did it take with Bush? Before they actualy contravened everything they had been spewing for years, "Oh, Bush, he's an idiot, everyone knows that, why are you still talking about him"? Because you're still acting like him morons!
At what point did they say "This guy is a lying, incompetent loon"? It certainly wasnt until after Barack won the election. Because they voted for McCain Palin to continue the Bush doctrine(what an insult to the word)! It has happened though, they now will agree that Bush was a stupid ass lying coward... progress! So, there is a date in which they will concede the climate debate to smart people and reality, rollover and you know what.
Waiting for that day is painful because you know it's them, yet again, making a quagmire out of a simple, logical tasks in front of them. They will invade other countries with open borders at home, fail wars on terrorists and drugs, lose Wall St. in a lying ball of whack jobs, spend money on bad things, break the rules, cheat, fail and yet.. stand up and claim they have all the answers, everyone else is wrong and the smart president should fail... They sound more like unionized super bureaucrats to me...
They are dangers to us all.
I KID YOU NOT.
Hi Gog. It's not so much what does it take to make them crack, it's "what crack do they take" ??
I've skimmed over the blogosphere for a bit, and it's stunning the reception the stolen e-fails are getting from the Fright-wing.
Everywhere you go, on every forum, "letters to the editor", chat, whatever, it's the same frothing spin.
"These e-mails PROOF that we am beeying lyed to and it am a soshalyst plot to tak over teh wurld !!", followed by a long screed of cherry-picked bloviation and selected exerpts, taken totally out of context and by people who slept through basic science at "skuul", and all pushed with the insistence of a 15 year old in front of his first hymen.
....and then the Deniers call US crazy, "like zealots" and obsessed ???
They're wacked and cracked and packed !

Think and believe? Doesn't sound very scientific.
"Climate just changes"? Of course it does. So? Did you ever stop to think that world temps may be going UP even though there has been a dimming trend with the sun? Gee, why would temps go up when there is less sun? And what if the dimming effect suddenly ended? What would happen to temps then?
Lastly, the final mistake. "It's cold". I just saw a news article about a report that said the U.S. had cooled in some very recent time period (don't know what that time period was but think it was last year or maybe ten years at most). The article also made clear that the earth on the whole had warmed over the same period. Moral of the story: local means nothing in GW.
Everyone should also keep in mind that short-term temp changes mean nothing as well. One year will go up and the next will go down. It means nothing. The long-term trend for the earth as a whole is undeniably up. And that is even in the presence of solar dimming conservatively estimated to be in the neighborhood of 2 to 3%, possibly as high as 22%.

Oh, now that carries a lot of weight . Reminds me of junior high school.
And the name is not Larry. How can you be expected to understand global climate changes when you can't even get a name right?

That's probably because I'm not a scientist. You know what, neither is your beloved and feared leader. The difference is I don't pretend to be, and I'm not hypocritically telling everybody else in the world how to live while I steal their money.
This issue is about politics more than science, anyway...

Unfortunately I'm becoming more and more likely to agree to this.
I'm watching the forum in Copenhagen and it's beginning to turn my stomach.
The people who do have something constructive to say are left out in the warm, while the flunkey's and lick-spittle tools wiggle and fawn in the hot lights of the projectors and smirk about "urgency" while dragging the event out over the hot coal and gassing it.
No, I'm becoming not happy very fast.
It's also hard to get a clear idea of what's going down, or up. Apart from hot air....

If you were to ask, just for debate's sake or for fits and giggles... What do we do if we're dead wrong on our position? I'd be happy to be wrong. When you dont hear the ding-a-lings answer, its because they already know they're wrong and they have the same stupid answers they did for 911, Katrina, drugs, budgets, finances and evolution.... the wrong answers.
What's really pathetic is that these fops represent about 25% of the politic and zero% of the correct answers. Where do they go after they're proven 100% wrong? Just look at the losers who preach one thing then are proven wrong the next day... What to do? Lie.... thats all that is left for the right. Where to for them now? Leadership? Oh fvcking no! On to another issues they know nothing about? Back to more denying and screeching? Delaying and distorting more important matters of survival, sustainability and morality? Holy crap, they have zero shame to go with so little learning.

This perfectly illustrates the problem with liberal thinking. Every question has an easy answer when you leave out the most important factor to be considered -- cost.
It's easy to implement "solutions" using other people's money, and printing some more when that stops working. Yeah, we have unlimited resources, so we can fix every single problem that way. I promise you this: your children will not thank you for this way of thinking and governing.

Sure would have been a lot cheaper to have started when Al wanted to start. Think of how far ahead the US would be if GWB aka Captain numb nuts, wast going backwards to the drum of idiot right wingers.
The cost... well, well, well. Have you figured the costs of not doing anything? Didn't think so, deniers cant think that far ahead.

Thanks for perfectly illustrating the problem with conservative thinking. You're being penny wise and pound foolish.
I don't remember much conservative complaining about cost before Shrub started his "crusade". Or when YOUR congress raised the debt ceiling over and over.
I've learned to never trust any party that says it will control spending, period.
And cost is not always the most important factor. That's where debt structuring comes in, among other things.

You'll get the idea once our fiat currency collapses. The Left blames the warfare state and the Right blames the welfare state. Both are responsible -- and both need to be held responsible.

And by whom? The libertarians? lol! They're busy, impaled on a fence.
At least democratic socialism is an investment in oneself as it relates to the world stage let alone, the common good, common knowledge and common courtesy. The left has always been the left, annoying, persistent, socialistic, and good for us most of the time. The right left. The conservatives are the one who have morphed into a party of self inflicted nightmares, anti constitutional, democracy hating, foreign wars starting mismanagement masters.
It should be headlines when they get something right. .
