Default Restoration questions

So how do I get non painted and non body work parts, engine parts, brakes parts etc, clean and restored, to their original finish, like this person did http://speedzilla.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9087?

(I would ask him but the poster's name has been deleted.)

That'd be my bike you're talking about.

It depends on what parts you're talking about. Some of the aluminum parts were bead blasted (hubs, heads, cylinders), some were cleaned with aluminum wheel cleaner and a hand held wire brush (cases, hubs), Some with carb cleaner and a brush (cases, carbs), some were polished with a buffer (sidecovers, misc smaller stuff), some a combination of the above...

Some of the steel parts were sand blasted and then electroplated. Other parts were simply replaced. Nothing was rechromed.

Thanks. I've got mostly some smallish aluminum parts, so I guess I'll just use your elbow grease method(s).

Thanks, and your bike looks great!
