Land Speed Record Ducati

An eclectic group of San Francisco Bay Area Ducati enthusiasts, or Ducatisti as they would like to be known, have embarked on a grass roots and independent assault on a Bonneville Land Speed Record on a Ducati motorcycle.
Known as LSRDucati
http://www.LSRDucati.com this group of motorcycle owners, riders, collectors and racers have been drawn together to attempt a record run at the world famous Bonneville International Speedway in Utah in September 2006.
On a 1960's Ducati 250cc motorcycle, first introduced in 1961, the group will field two riders. Christine Eckman who is a fervent rider and owns several motorcycles will be the primary pilot and she will be joined by Ducati owner and devotee Khanh Vo.
Team Manager Alex Marzano, a Silicon Valley project manager heads the team and is coordinating the effort.
Chief Engineer Hans Mellberg, is charged with the task of building and engineering a Land Speed Record contender. Hans has owned a motorcycle of some sort since he was twelve years old, and is a former racer, builder and technician. Hans holds two degrees in engineering and physics.
Crew Chief Mark Avrech, marketing specialist John Clelland, and enthusiast Michael Wozniak make up the rest of the team.
The team will embark for the International Motorcycle Speed Trials

The competition is sanctioned by both the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and the Federation Internationale Motocyclisme (FIM) the world record caretakers.
