Default What's the word on '03 ?

Anyone care to chip in a comment on the 2003 SV650?

I'm looking at an '03 race bike but have it's been "suggested" to stay clear of the '03 model.

Does anyone have experience good or bad they wish to share?

I'm getting rid of my RC51 to move to the SV.

I had an 03 and had absolutely no problems with it. As far as I know the only difference on the 03 compared to say ohh....the 04-06 is the a different subframe and seat. That's it.

I think the 07+ SV have dual spark plugs.

Oh..I forgot the shift star on the 03-04 sometimes slipped, but all you have to do is put an 05 shift star and detent arm and you solve the problem. The mod cost like $40 give or take.

Hope that helps.

The SV is a great brother bike to an RC51!!!

Yea I've heard the stories also, some say the 03 had motor reliability issues. But who knows, kinda like "which oil"?
